CHANDIGARH, 19.09.25-The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Goswami Ganesh Dutta SanatanDharma College, under the PM-Usha Scheme, organised an invited lecture on “Traditional Media vs New Media” today. Ms. Manokriti Bedi, Editor of Manifest International, was the resource person. Nearly 200 students attended the session which bridged the industry -academia gap, offering valuable insights to the participants .
The college Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma, extended a warm welcome and addressed the gathering, emphasising key aspects of media such as media ownerships, potential benefits and encouraged students to become independent thinkers while living in a digital landscape. Ms. Bedi talked about the risks of misinformation in content strategies and lead generation.
The students gained valuable insights about evolving media practices, the importance of cross-checking facts, and the need for responsible reporting. The lecture also encouraged students to be independent thinkers, critically analyse narratives, and engage with media content in a more informed and meaningful manner.
Dr Priya Chadha, Head ,Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of journalism courses and encouraged students to develop habits of reading newspapers and use social media judiciously .
