MAHENDERGARH, 22.08.25-The Central University of Haryana (CUH) successfully organized a plantation drive under the theme “Greenovation Drive: Medicinal Planting for Entrepreneurial Ecosystem” on August 22, 2025. The initiative, held near Academic Block-1 of the University campus, aimed to promote sustainability, health, and entrepreneurship through the cultivation of medicinal plants.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor and Chief Patron, and convened by Prof. Sunita Srivastava, Director, IIC, CUH. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar in his message emphasised on the opportunities with the cultivation of Indian medicinal plants and the present demand in the global market.
Prof. Sunita Srivastava encourages students to develop a habit of plantation and gardening to keep self-healthy and charged with positive energy. The drive emphasized the importance of medicinal plants in fostering a sustainable environment while also creating opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurial ventures in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Several faculty members actively participated in the plantation drive, including Prof. Neelam S. Sangwan (Dean, Research, and Director of the R&D Cell), Dr. Dinesh Kumar, and Prof. Vipan Parihar (Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences), Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, Dr. Humira Sonah, Dr. Ravi Kumar. Their active involvement underscored CUH’s commitment to building a healthier campus ecosystem and encouraging students and researchers to integrate green practices with entrepreneurial approaches.
In addition to the faculty, students from the Department of Biotechnology enthusiastically participated in the plantation activity, reflecting the University’s collective spirit of environmental sustainability and hands-on learning. The participation of students not only contributed to the success of the drive but also instilled a sense of responsibility for protecting the environment and exploring the potential of medicinal plants for future innovations.
The event was jointly organized by the Department of Biotechnology, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), CUH. The plantation drive received an enthusiastic response from faculty, staff, and students alike, marking another step forward in CUH’s mission of fostering a sustainable and healthy campus environment.
