Chandigarh, 25.05.25- : The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) has welcomed the likely agenda items for the Planning Commission meeting scheduled to take place today in Delhi. The meeting is expected to focus on key development initiatives for Chandigarh, including the construction of underpasses, multilevel parking’s, Warehousing Complex in Industrial Area, Phase-3 and public-private partnerships in infrastructure development.
The CBM has also appreciated the proposed measures to boost commerce in the city, which will likely have a positive impact on the local economy.
Diwakar Sahoonja, Vice Chairman cum Official Spokesperson, CBM while hailing these positive measures, demanded early notifications regarding the following:
- One Time Settlement Schemes for VAT Cases.
- OTS for Pending Property Tax Cases.
- Declaring Leasehold Properties as Freehold with reasonable Conversion Charges or no cost.
- Permitting all Floors of Commercial Buildings for Free use for Trading, including Display and Sales.
Sanjeev Chadha, President, CBM said that such freedom of usage shall cut down litigation and increase employment opportunities for especially unemployed youth of Chandigarh, while also earning increased Government Exchequer.
Charanjiv Singh, Chairman, CBM welcomed the move to develop the Third Phase of the Industrial Area in city extensively as most of it is being developed as warehousing complex which will benefit traders. Construction of 8-10 multistory parking in the coming years will ease parking problem in city specifically in Markets.
The CBM have been demanding these measures since long and is hopeful that these initiatives will have a positive impact on the city's economy and look forward to the positive outcomes of the Planning Commission meeting.
