City Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla honours Kafi, acid attack survivor who scores 95.6% in CBSE 12th
Chandigarh, May 15:- City Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla today honoured Kafi, acid attack survivor who scores 95.6% in CBSE 12th. Mayor assured the brave girl to extend all possible help she needed in future.
While appreciating the brilliant girl, the Mayor said that despite losing her eyesight in an acid attack at age 3, Kafi scored 95.6% in CBSE Class 12, topping her Chandigarh blind school. She said that a 17-year-old student from the Blind School in Sector 26, Chandigarh, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by scoring 95.6% in her CBSE Class 12 humanities exams, becoming the school topper. Her journey is nothing short of inspiring. At the age of just three, during the Holi festival, she was attacked with acid by three neighbours in her village, Budhana, in Haryana’s Hisar district. The incident caused severe injuries to her face and arms and permanently took away her eyesight.
The Mayor said that her hard work has now paid off, and she hopes to study Political Science at Delhi University. Her dream is to become an IAS officer. Kafi’s father, who works as group D employee at the Mini Secretariat in Chandigarh, is extremely proud of her. He has watched her overcome every obstacle with courage and strength.

MC Chandigarh to link salaries with Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) from June 1st
Chandigarh, May 15:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is set to link salaries with the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) for all its employees, including regular, contractual, outsourced, and field staff from 1st June, 2025.
This decision was taken in a review meeting held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, MCC.
As part of this initiative:
* Mandatory Registration: All MCC employees must register on the NIC’s Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS). Attendance will be marked using NIC’s facial authentication via the AadhaarBAS/AadhaarFaceRD mobile application on personal smartphones.
* Attendance Compliance: From 1 April 2025, biometric attendance had been made mandatory for all employees, and their salaries will be linked with the system from 1st June, 2025.

MC Chandigarh challans 88 violators for Water Wastage during one month, Urges Citizens to Save Water
Chandigarh, May 15:-As part of its ongoing Save Water campaign, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has intensified action against water wastage by issuing challans and notices to violators across the city.
During last one month from 15th April to 15th May, 2025, total 1,202 notices and 88 challans were issued against the violators. This move underscores the Corporation’s strict stance on preventing water wastage, especially in the run-up to the monsoon season.
While speaking about the drive against water wastage, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, MC Chandigarh said that the Corporation has put all efforts to save drinking water from wastage I.e. washing of vehicles and watering lawns specially in the morning hours when peak hours of water consumption in the city. He said that the MCC has also started making connections of TT water supply to the kanal houses for irrigation purposes.
He urged citizens to avoid water wastage, cooperate with enforcement efforts, and actively contribute to making Chandigarh a model city for water conservation.

Water Supply and Sewerage disposal Committee Pushes for Swift Action on Civic lssues
Chandigarh, May 15:-A meeting of the Water Supply and Sewerage Disposal Committee of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairpersonship of Smt. Sarbjit Kaur.
The meeting was attended by committee member Councillors Smt. Prem Lata, Sh. Saurabh Joshi, Sh. Kanwarjeet Singh, Smt. Darshana, Sh. Satinder Singh Sidhu, and all concerned officers of Public Health Wing, MC Chandigarh.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to prioritize urgent sewerage and storm water drainage works under the jurisdiction of the Public Health Wing of MCC. Following extensive field inspections and on-ground assessments, the Public Health team presented a prioritized list of works that require immediate intervention and are to be completed before ensuing monsoon.
These proposed works include development, repair, and de-silting activities, especially targeting high-risk and low-lying areas of the city that are vulnerable to waterlogging and flooding during the monsoon season.
The committee thoroughly discussed the presented proposals and unanimously approved them on a priority basis. The Chairperson emphasized the importance of timely execution of these works to ensure smooth civic functioning and minimize public inconvenience during the upcoming monsoon.
