Chandigarh,04.08.19-As part of the nationwide Tree Plantation drive by the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA), radiologists of the Chandigarh Chapter of the Society carried out plantation drives in the Tricity on Sunday, 4th August 2019 at two different locations. One was organized at Village Hoshiarpur, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh and the second one was organized at Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula under the leadership of Dr MS Sandhu, President of the Chapter and Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr Naveen Kalra, Secretary of the Chapter and Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, Chandigarh. In New Chandigarh, the society has coordinated with the Forest Department to plant at least 500 trees in various areas of Village Hoshiarpur. Dr Gopal Bhardwaj, PMO, Civil Hospital, Panchkula, Dr Veena Singh, Chief Radiologist at Civil Hospital, Panchkula and Dr Sudha Suri, former Dean, PGIMER graced the occasion at Civil Hospital, Panchkula. Both the events were attended by enthusiastic radiologists from across the Tricity. The radiological society is a strong proponent of various socio-ecological causes and conducts such drives and events like Save the Girl Child and Green Initiative at regular intervals. Dr MS Sandhu, President of the Chapter, thanked Dr Kapoor, Senior Radiologist at Civil Hospital and Dr Mandeep Garg, Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, Chandigarh profusely for helping in organizing both these events. Furthermore, Dr Naveen Kalra, Secretary of the Chapter, urged all the radiologists to plant trees on this day near their homes, clinics, diagnostic centres and hospitals as part of this nationwide green initiative
