One arrested for consuming liquor at public place

Chandigarh Police Rajesh R/o # 80/82, Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh while he was consuming liquor at a public place at parking near Wine Shop, Sector-22C, Chandigarh on 11.08.2020. A case FIR No. 141, U/S 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC has been registered in PS-17, Chandigarh. Later he was released on bail. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Action against illicit liquor

Chandigarh Police arrested Kishanpal R/o # 2000, Phase-2, Ram Darbar, Chandigarh and recovered 25 quarters of country liquor from his possession in Aviator Scooter No. CH01-BA-1179 near Hanuman Mandir, Hallo Majra, Chandigarh on 11.08.2020. A case FIR No. 170, U/S 61-1-14 Excise Act has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

MV Theft

A lady resident of Sector 27D, Chandigarh, reported that unknown person stole away Honda City Car No. CH03X0083 parked near her residence between 08.08.2020 to 10.08.2020. A case FIR No. 141, U/S 379 IPC has been registered in PS-26, Chandigarh. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Attempt to theft

A case FIR No. 175, U/S 380, 511, 427 IPC has been registered in PS-IT Park, Chandigarh on the complaint of Kikar Singh, Channel Executive, Hitachi Payment Service Pvt Ltd, R/o # 136/2, Sector 55, Palsora, Chandigarh who reported that unknown person tried to broke the ATM and CCTV Camera at Axis Bank ATM, Booth No. 44/1 Subhash Nagar, Manimajra, Chandigarh and attempted to theft on the night intervening 10/11-08-2020. Investigation of the case is in progress.

Traffic Advisory for 13.8.2020

Rehearsal for Independence Day- 2020 function shall be held on 13.8.2020 from 8.30 AM onwards at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Therefore, the general public is requested to avoid the following stretch of road from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM on 13.8.2020:-

1. From Punjab Raj Bhawan towards Sector 5-6/7-8 Chowk (Hira Singh Chowk), straight to 4/5-8/9 Chowk, straight to Sector 3/4-9/10 Chowk (New Barricade Chowk) right turn straight to Sector 1/3/4 Chowk (Old Barricade Chowk), left turn towards War Memorial, Bouganvilla Garden, Sector 3, Chandigarh.

2. From War Memorial, Bouganvilla Garden, Sector 3 towards Old Barricade Chowk, right turn towards Matka Chowk, straight to Sector 16/17 Light Point on Jan Marg, left turn towards Lyons Light Point, right turn towards Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh.

Road users are, therefore, advised to make use of alternative routes during the timings given above. Inconvenience caused to the general public on account of these restrictions is regretted. General public is requested to cooperate with the police.

The PCR Unit of Chandigarh Police has succeeded to nab a snatcher namely Monu S/o Late Sh. Vikram Singh, age-34 yrs

The PCR Unit of Chandigarh Police has succeeded to nab a snatcher namely Monu S/o Late Sh. Vikram Singh, age-34 yrs. R/o Jhuggi no. 16, Shahpur Colony, Sector-38-West, Chandigarh. On dt. 10.08.2020 at about 10.30 PM, PCR vehicle Sugar-27, I/C ASI Satinder No. 3226/CP and Dvr. Ct. Sandeep No. 3827/CP were on patrolling duty in the area. When they reached near Shahpur Light Point, at about 100 meters away from them, near public convenience, DMC, they saw a lady was being dragged by a young boy. Then PCR officials reacted at once and reached on the spot where snatcher tried to run away. Then PCR officials chased him and nabbed this snatcher from the bushes nearby, where he tried to hide himself and PCR officials hand over this snatcher to PS Maloya Police Officials. On the statement of victim namely Smt. Shakuntala Devi, a Case FIR No. 119 dt. 10.08.2020 U/S 379-B, 511 IPC, PS-Maloya, Chandigarh has been registered. This is commendable job done by PCR officials.
