CHANDIGARH,25.02.20-With the aim of providing a platform to young budding poets and motivating them to carry forward the rich legacy of Punjabi language, the Punjabi Department of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women conducted a workshop titled 'Yuva Shairaan de Ang Sang'. Organized in collaboration with Punjab Sahitya Akademi, this unique endeavour was graced by the presence of a galaxy of eminent personalities including Dr. Satish Verma, Secretary, Punjab Sahitya Akademi, Punjabi writer couple Mr. Manmohan Daon and Mrs. Daljeet Kaur Daon, Punjabi Literature Critics and Poets Mr. Harvinder Bhandal and Dr. Davinder Boha, playwright Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep and Punjabi poet Mr. Satpal Bhikhi.

Expressing appreciation for the college's commitment towards promotion of young talent and indigenous languages, Dr. Satish Verma highlighted the importance of poetry as a tool that provides an insight into one's own being. Dr. Verma referred to literature as one's true friend and motivated the audience to keep alive the rich tradition of Punjabi literature. Adding that everyone has the innate ability to write, Dr. Verma shared useful tips for acing the art of creative writing. On this occasion a book titled 'Assi Sirf Bacche Nahin Haan', containing works of children and edited by Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep and Mr. Satpal Bhikhi, was released by the dignitaries present. In an insightful critique of the book, Mr. Harvinder Bhandal presented an in-depth analysis highlighting the writing prowess of the young writers whose contributions feature in the book. Treating the audience to their creativity and demonstrating their amazingly deep understanding of life's varied hues, young poets including the college's students presented their self-composed poetic creations that were highly appreciated by everyone present.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this appreciable initiative of the Punjabi Department and asserted that such programmes hold immense significance for cultivating appreciation for one's mother tongue and encouraging the budding litterateurs by providing them a platform to showcase their talent.
