Ludhiana 17 February 2020-The NSS team in association with Landscaping wing of the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana planted 250 rose saplings in the Scientist Home in the memory of Meenu Sharma, a second year NRI student of College of Veterinary Science who passed away on February 13, 2020 in a road accident. Condolence meeting in this regard was also held at the NRI Girls Hostel to pay respects to the departed soul which was attended by Dr. Arun Sharma, father of late Meenu Sharma.

The final phase of plantation drive was formally completed by NSS volunteers and hostel inmates. All the NSS volunteers from college of Dairy Science and Technology, college of Animal Biotechnology and College of Fisheries enthusiastically participated in the event and planted the saplings.The drive jointly organized by NSS unit and landscaping wing started at the Scientist Home, in which more than 100 students participated.

Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students’ Welfare-cum-Estate Officer appreciated the untiring efforts of the NSS volunteers and landscaping team. NSS programme coordinator, Nidhi Sharma shared the concept note behind the rose plantation drive. She exhorted the audience not only to plant but ensure the survival of each and every rose plant around us for their obvious advantages.

Dr. Siva Kumar, NSS Programme Officer of College of Dairy Science and Technology said that the target could be achieved because of the persistent contribution of NSS volunteers who helped the landscaping staff in digging the pits and carrying out a special cleanliness drive in the campus a day before this function. Joginder Singh, Gardener, played a key role in the planning as well as planting of ornamental rose plants for the beautification of the Scientist Home.
