Fatehgarh Sahib, January 27-State government is committed for the promotion of women empowerment and 50 percent wards will be kept reserved for ladies in the upcoming elections of local bodies in Punjab. This was stated by Brahm Mohindra, Local Bodies, Parliamentary Affairs, Elections and Removal of Grievances Minister, during the district level function on the occasion of 71st Republic Day at Sports Stadium, Sirhind. He said that with the adoption of constitution on this remarkable day, India has become largest democracy in the world and it will remain a matter of proud for our citizens.

After the district level function Mr. Mohindra laid the foundation stone of the two bridges which would be constructed on Sirhind Choe. The cost of the project is 02 crore 20 lakh. He also laid the foundation stone of the water supply scheme which would ensure the 100 percent water supply to the residents of the Sirhind. Under this project 46 km long pipeline would be laid along with 02 tubewells. With the completion of this project more than 4200 households would get the water supply connections.

Before this while addressing the district level function Mr. Mohindra said that state government is fully committed to the development of the state and with the implementation of the new industrial policy the industry of the state is back on the developmental track. 46 M.O.Us has been signed regarding the investment at Mandi Gobindgarh.

Cabinet Minister said that with the efforts of the state government the Kartarpur Sahib corridor has been opened with which the demand of the sangat which was pending since decades has been fulfilled. He divulged that the state government is going to release a stamp dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji. He added that State government is spending more than 300 crores for the development of the villages which are related with Guru Nanak Dev ji. Besides this government is spending more than 270 crore for the development of Sultanpur lodhi.

He said that work of laying new sewerage lines in the district Fatehgarh Sahib is going on in full swing and the project would cost around 133 crore. Besides this the construction of mother child care hospital at Fatehgarh Sahib is also underway with the estimated cost of Rs 10 crores. Mega Diary project costing Rs.358 crore is also underway.

He also announced Rs 05 lakh for the development of the students participated in the function and also announced Rs.21 thousand for the differently abled children those who had participated in the function.

Cabinet Minister also honoured the freedom fighters and their families. He also honoured officers, employees and persons from various walks of life for their remarkable contribution towards society. He also distributed sewing machines and wheelchairs among needy people. The Chief guest also took a salute during an impressive march past by contingents of Punjab Police, Home Guards and NCC cadets of various schools and colleges.

On this occasion, Kuljit Singh Nagra, Advisor to CM and MLA Fatehgarh Sahib, MLA Kaka Randeep Singh, MLA Gurpreet Singh GP, Harpreet Mohindra, Mohit Mohindra, Baksh Mohindra, Harinder Singh Bhambri, Chairman District Planning committee, Subash Sood, Director PRTC, Mandeep Kaur Bhadhoshi, Chairperson Zila Parishad, Amrit Kaur Gill, Deputy Commissioner, Nirbhow Singh Gill, District and Session Judge, Ameet Kondal SSP were also present along with the various other officials and large number of students.
