NEW DELHI:03.10.22-Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia met the new cohort of 30 principals from Delhi Government Schools and education department officials on Monday, who will be heading on a new journey of professional enrichment at the University of Cambridge, UK, next week. Their visit is part of the Kejriwal Government’s flagship initiative to provide 8 days of leadership training to the principals at the Cambridge university and exposure to some of the world’s best education practices being implemented at UK schools. This is the second cohort of the year and fourteenth so far that will be attending this training at the University of Cambridge from October 10 onwards.

The main objective of this leadership training cum exposure visit facilitated by the Delhi Government is to provide global exposure to the principals on the usage of digital technology in classroom practices and best practices related to it, leadership skills, skills required for managing high-performance teams, and innovative pedagogies used by the teachers for holistic development of students in UK schools. On this visit to Cambridge, the cohort of principals and officials will also visit three schools Fulbridge Academy, Witchford Village College and Chesterton Community College to understand the effective implementation of policies on the ground.

While motivating the principals, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “Principals and teachers of Delhi government schools are pilots of the Delhi Education Revolution which is being admired all over the world today. Their hard work and efforts have made Delhi government schools the most preferred choice among the children and parents of Delhi. This has been made possible with the vision of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal to provide advanced professional training and international-level exposure to the principals who lead our schools. With such training, our idea is to provide an opportunity to the principals to learn from the best education systems of the world.”

He told the principals that they should go to Cambridge with an open mind to absorb their best practices and try to think of adapting those practices to help Delhi government schools for the better. In the case of digital technologies, they must focus on the purpose that is being resolved with their usage and how that can be incorporated in our system. A new research component has been added this year to expand the horizon of leadership training. This will help them become a lead learner and enhance their capabilities as a leader.

Shri Manish Sisodia further said, “The University of Cambridge is known for developing the most unique assessment practices and during this visit to Cambridge our school principals will get an exposure to this and learn from it so that those assessment best practices can be adopted in Delhi too. This will help us develop student-centric assessment practices that will focus on reducing stress from students’ lives.”

It is to be noted that so far 400 principals, teachers and education department officials have been to Cambridge University for leadership training. Apart from this Delhi government has sent its principal and teachers to various other countries like Finland, Singapore, etc. So far 59 principals and teachers have been to Finland and 300 to Singapore. There are 300+ mentor teachers who have been to various other countries which are known to have the best education systems in the world.

*Mini Research Project would be the main highlight of the upcoming visit of Principals to Cambridge UK*

During the training, the principals will have an opportunity to meet education experts who are leading the change in the field of education in the UK. They will also meet the principals and teachers of three local education institutes to understand how they are implementing the education policies of the country on the ground effectively, and what innovative pedagogical practices are being used in the schools of the UK which can add to the existing Delhi Education Model. Along with this, the main highlight of this upcoming visit to the UK is the “mini research project” where principals will identify a problem statement or a topic of their interest in the field of education and develop that research on this visit to the UK. The main idea of including this mini-research project is to help principals identify how the ecosystem of Delhi government schools can be improved further.

The aforementioned meeting was also attended by the Principal Advisor Education Shailendra Sharma and the Additional Director of Education Dr. Rita Sharma.

NEW DELHI:03.10.22-The Delhi Government led by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal launched an ‘Advanced Green War Room’ for 24x7 monitoring and robust implementation of the Winter Action Plan. Environment Minister Shri Gopal Rai kicked off proceedings at Delhi Government’s new anti-pollution war room. He stressed on public participation in the fight and said, “A 12 member team consisting of experts, scientists and engineers to look after the Green War Room. Massive success of Delhi Government’s efforts to curb pollution; in the last 10 years, PM 10 levels fell by 40%, PM 2.5 by 31% despite increasing population. 54,156 complaints received on Green Delhi App; 90% complaints have been resolved till date. Delhi Government will launch an anti-dust campaign in Delhi from 6th October.”

Shri Gopal Rai said, “Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal had announced the Winter Action Plan on the 30th of September. Under the plan, the GRAP has been enforced in Delhi from 1st October. We have been closely monitoring the air quality and stubble situation in and around Delhi. We’ve been working on the Real Time Source Apportionment Study as well. To give a more hands on approach and enable 24x7 monitoring of all our efforts we are starting the Advanced Green War Room from today. A total of 12 members will be working in the war room. Environmental Scientist Dr BMS Reddy has been appointed as the incharge of the war room. Environmental Engineer NK Joshi has been appointed as the Assistant Incharge. Scientist Dr Nandita Moitra will be on the monitoring desk. Besides them, a 9 member team will assist them and work on the complaints received from the Green Delhi App and ensure implementation of the same in sync with other departments.”

He added, “A total 54,156 complaints have been received on the Green Delhi App. 90% of these complaints have been resolved. Most complaints are received against the working of the MCD. 32,573 complaints have been filed on the app against the MCD. Then some 9,118 complaints have been received against the PWD. 3,333 complaints have been received against the DDA. I urge the people of Delhi to ensure their cooperation and participation in this Winter Action Plan. With climate change and the developments in society, it is only possible to fight against pollution with the support of the people.”

He continued, “Last year at the peak of pollution, the Centre for Science and Environment had analysed the sources of pollution in Delhi. As per the report, internal sources, those within Delhi, amounted to 31% of pollution. Whereas, external sources, those within surrounding states contribute 69% of it. Which is why the Advanced Green War Room has been asked to be on its toes. In 2012, the PM 10 levels of Delhi were averaged out at 368. In 2021, through the succinct efforts of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and his government, the PM 10 levels have fallen to 221. PM 2.5 was at 164 in 2012. In 2021, 113. PM 10 has fallen by 40% in the last 10 years. While PM 2.5 has been reduced by 31% in the last decade. This is a huge achievement, I’d simultaneously like to congratulate the people of Delhi for achieving such a feat. To put things into perspective, these numbers are much more significant given how the population of Delhi has increased manifolds in the last decade but the pollution levels have reduced. The Green Cover of Delhi in fact has risen too. All the data has been sourced from DPCC’s monitoring stations.”

He stated, “When pollution was on the rise in Delhi, we had identified 13 hotspots. As per the report on those hotspots, tallied between 2018-2021, in Jahangirpuri PM 10 levels have fallen by 20%, in Narela 8%, Ashok Vihar 22%, Vivek Vihar 15%, Punjabi Bagh 21%, Dwarka 21%, Mundka 32%, Rohini 26%, Wazirpur 24%, Okhla 15%, Bawana 16%, Anand Vihar 25%, and in RK Puram by 22%. We have seen improvement in PM 2.5 levels too. in Jahangirpuri PM 2.5 levels have fallen by 13%, in Narela 12%, Ashok Vihar 14%, Vivek Vihar 1%, Punjabi Bagh 6%, Dwarka 8%, Mundka 16%, Rohini 13%, Wazirpur 20%, Okhla 9%, Bawana 9%, Anand Vihar 16%, and in RK Puram by 13%.”

Shri Gopal Rai concluded, “From 6th October, we shall start an Anti-Dust Campaign in Delhi. I appeal to every single Delhiite to keep an eye out on dust pollution and report every single instance of dust pollution on the Green Delhi App. I request everyone to download the Green Delhi App if they haven’t already. If Delhiites become the eyes and ears of the government, it will become easier than ever to combat pollution this winter season.”

*CM Arvind Kejriwal has envisioned that one’s financial condition should never be a roadblock in their success: Rajendra Pal Gautam

*Wholeheartedly congratulate all students and their families who’ve succeeded through the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana: Rajendra Pal Gautam

NEW DELHI:03.10.22-The Delhi Government, under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, has taken great strides in facilitating inclusive growth of people of Delhi where people belonging to each section of society are benefitting from visionary leadership and effective governance. Along with revolutionising the education system through the Delhi Education Model which is being praised across the globe, the Government has brought special measures to ensure that every child gets a fair opportunity to reach great heights in career and lack of resources does not prove to be a barrier in it. ‘Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna’ is one such measure to bring the talented children from poor families on par with children who have all the resources to clear prestigious entrance and competitive exams by enrolling them in the best coachings of their choice. Students have started reaping the benefits of the scheme and sharing the information about the same, Social Welfare Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “25% students trained under Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana make it to top medical and engineering colleges. 4,000 students had enrolled for coaching under the scheme; 25% got selected for top colleges. Students from government schools and underprivileged families majorly among beneficiaries of the scheme. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal has envisioned that one’s financial condition should never be a roadblock in their success. Wholeheartedly congratulate all students and their families who’ve succeeded through the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana.”

Social Welfare Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “We launched a scheme named ‘Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna’ at the end of 2018 under the leadership of CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. The reason behind bringing such a scheme was that all the entrance exams for professional courses such as engineering, medical and CLAT or competitive exams for jobs like Civil Service, Banking, or Railways have become so competitive that candidates only get selected if they have taken coaching. 99% of selected candidates have taken coachings and those who do not take coachings are unable to clear the exams. We wanted to ensure that poverty should not become a barrier for those children who are talented or want to achieve something in life. They should not miss any opportunity due to lack of money.”

He continued, “CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal envisioned that the Government should come forward to help such students. He has a dream that even the poorest of the poor should get opportunities to reach greater heights. He came up with a tagline ‘Pratibha Agar hai toh gareebi badha nahi banegi’ and the Delhi Government prepared ‘Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna’ under his leadership. In the first year of its implementation, 8 institutes were empanelled under this scheme. 49 hundred students took coaching in various courses in those 8 institutes. Many students cleared several medical and engineering entrance exams and got into institutions like IIT Delhi, DTU, NSIT and NIIT. Over the years, we have expanded this scheme to empanel more institutes and now the number of empanelled institutes has shot up to 46.”

He added, “We started imparting coachings in those institutes. There was a lot of inconvenience for 1 and a half years because of the COVID-19 pandemic as it caused a lot of obstacles in implementing that scheme. However, we succeeded in fully operationalising the scheme in around September or October 2020 once again after recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. I feel proud to share that around 13 thousand students have enrolled in civil services, engineering, medical, Police, Banking Railways and several competitive exams coaching out of the targeted scope of 15 thousand students. Among those 13 thousand students, 4 thousand students took admission into medical and engineering coaching. Out of them, 13 hundred students have been selected for various medical and engineering entrance exams. This means that our selection rate is over 25%. These students belonging to poor families have taken admission into prestigious colleges like IITs, DTU, NIIT, NSIT, IP university and other reputed Central and State government colleges.”

Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam said, “We feel proud that we are making the dream of Shri Arvind Kejriwal to provide all the possible support to even the poorest of the poor is becoming a reality. Poverty will not become a barrier for talent and Once Shri Arvind Kejriwal held their hands, talent came to forefront and became merit. 3 thousand 441 appeared for the exams out of 4 thousand students and 1303 students got selected in engineering and medical. Apart from this, many students enrolled in other courses, they cleared government job exams and have even joined their respective services. We have a long list of such students with us which has been verified by the department.”

Social Welfare Minister Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam concluded, “Poor families could not even dream of seeing their children becoming doctors or engineers. They have immensely benefited from ‘Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna’ and secured admission in prestigious institutions. I want to congratulate their families. We will hold a press conference soon and bring those students who have got admission into IITs and medical colleges so that they can share their experience with the media. They will also give insight into the support provided by the Delhi Government in their endeavours and also tell if there is any scope of improvement in the scheme.”
