NEW DELHI: 21ST JUNE 2022-The Kejriwal Government is all set to bring Delhi’s markets to a cutting-edge digital platform. The Dilli Bazaar e-portal to go live with 10,000 vendors in December. The Delhi Government will bring over 1 lac shops of Delhi to the Dilli Bazaar portal within 6 months of launch and give them a 24x7 digital storefront. Talking about the project, Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, Dilli Bazaar will be the first such portal in India where all of Delhi’s markets will be brought on a single platform and presented to the world. Every trader & retailer of Delhi will be able to display & sell their products to the world on Dilli Bazaar.” The Delhi Government will help register the first one lac vendors on the portal with market associations validating their presence. The Delhi Government will also appoint an agency to look after the Dilli Bazaar portal. Among the features of the portal.
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal chaired a high-level review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat today to take stock of the progress of the Dilli Bazaar Project. Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia was also present during the meeting, along with other senior officials concerned.
Under the Dilli Bazaar Project, the Delhi Government has envisioned a large-scale transformation of Delhi’s markets through digitisation of each and every shop of Delhi. The government plans to develop a unique virtual experience wherein one can have digital walkthroughs of Delhi’s iconic as well as local markets and browse through the products on offer. During the meeting, Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi Vice Chairperson Shri Jasmine Shah briefed the CM about the details about design and development of the portal and explained various features like product cataloguing, market location, geo-tagging, map layouts, e-payment and digital walkthroughs that will be made available through it. The Dilli Bazaar portal will have a team, which will go to the markets and take care of complete branding solutions. Due to the zero setup cost conceptualised behind the platform, the products available on the Delhi Bazaar portal will be cheaper than the price e-commerce companies sell them at.
*Dilli Bazaar to bring a revolution in Indian e-commerce by adopting ONDC’s open network of e-marketplaces
The Delhi Government is all set to revolutionise the Indian e-commerce ecosystem by becoming the first state government to adopt the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) protocol to establish an open network of e-marketplaces in Delhi. This will help shift Buyer & Seller transactions from closed platforms to decentralised open networks. For instance, if you want to purchase a shoe from a shop in Connaught Place while sitting at home, you’ll log on to the Dilli Bazaar portal and choose the shoe you want to buy. After this, you will get an option to purchase the shoe from not just the Dilli Bazaar portal but also other empanelled portals where the seller has listed their portal on. From there you can opt for the portal of your choice, considering the price & logistical options on offer and purchase the product. This provision will help the shopkeepers of Delhi get a digital presence not just on the Dilli Bazaar Portal but on various e-commerce portals opening a wide horizon of opportunities for them.
The Dilli Bazaar team is also in discussion with e-commerce platforms to enable a feature wherein consumers of e-commerce platforms can purchase goods from Delhi’s shops through the Dilli Bazaar portal and make online payments from there. The government intends to make the Dilli Bazaar Portal’s products available on all e-commerce platforms with all e-payment options available for transactions. This will expand the access of the sellers to larger markets, helping them reach domestic as well as international customers. Promoting the motto of ‘Go Local’, the customers on this platform will be able to search by products, markets, sellers and geographical area to enable their discovery of the distinctive markets of Delhi alongside unique branding of every market.
*Five markets of Delhi to get a digital makeover under Dilli Bazaar*
The Dilli Bazaar plans to go a step forward from being just an e-commerce platform to introducing virtual market tours wherein the customers and visitors will be able to view market streets and shops, easing the journey of their purchase and itinerary planning. For instance, if a person sitting in a different state or country wants to visit Chandini Chowk from home, they can open a virtual navigation of Chandini Chowk and go shop-by-shop & street-by-street to see who is selling what products and purchase whatever they wish to while in getting a unique experience. The Delhi Government will empanel vendors for this purpose and kick it off from five markets and then gradually implement in every market of Delhi.
*Delhi Government will take every step necessary to transform Delhi’s market up to the global standard: CM Arvind Kejriwal*
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal heaped praises on the presentation and stated that the government is on a mission to make Delhi's markets world-class. “Delhi's markets will be known all over the world in the coming years. Delhi Government will take every step necessary to transform Delhi’s market up to the global standard. The Delhi Government will provide all possible facilities to make it happen. By December 2022, our e-portal called Dilli Bazaar will be launched with store fronts of ten thousand shops in Delhi. The Delhi government will connect one lakh sellers to the portal in the first phase. These shopkeepers will be verified by the market association. An agency will be appointed to oversee all aspects of the Dilli Bazar portal's operations. This will be the first time in the country that Delhi physical markets will be available on multiple digital platforms,” he said.
*How the portal will function:*
The Dilli Bazaar will serve as a discovery platform for local markets. Its goal is to bring all of Delhi's small and large shopkeepers onto the online setup at zero charge. Every shopkeeper of Delhi will be allowed to register on the portal irrespective of whether they have GST numbers or not. All shopkeepers of Delhi will get a personalised digital storefront on the portal. All of the products in their shop will be listed on the e-portal. A customer will be able to search through the portal by shopkeeper name, market name, and product name. The portal will also act as a repository of verified sellers of Delhi with comprehensive product catalogues.
Being ONDC enabled, the Dilli Bazaar portal will offer a unique feature wherein the buyer will get an option to choose which gateway platform it wants to opt for while buying the product. Suppose a buyer wants to purchase a product online from one of Dilli Bazaar’s shops, they will get an option to choose if they want to buy the product from that specific shop through Dilli Bazaar, or any other e-commerce portal like Amazon or Flipkart (names for representative purpose only).
*Dilli Bazaar’s products will be available on e-commerce portals as well*
The main feature of the e-portal is that people will be able to buy products from sellers of Delhi’s markets both by visiting the portals of e-commerce companies or by visiting Dilli Bazar portal. ONDC will be a key aspect of this provision. ONDC will enable a similar kind of flexibility in e-commerce like UPI has in e-payments. Under UPI, one can send money across banks using any platform they want. Under ONDC, you will be able to buy a product from the shop you want but choose the platform of your choice. For example, at present, if you log on to Amazon or Flipkart you will only be able to buy from their sellers and their sellers will only be able to sell using their platform. On Dilli Bazaar, the sellers will be able to sell across platforms and give an explicit choice to the buyer to choose the platform. This is happening for the first time in India that all the sellers will gather at one place on the Dilli Bazaar portal and buyers will be able to buy the product from any platform they wish. Soon, if you are searching for a shoe on an e-commerce portal, then the shoe being sold by a shopkeeper registered on the Dilli Bazar portal will also be displayed there.
*Dilli Bazaar as an e-marketplace*
It is worth noting that the Dilli Bazaar portal will be a cutting-edge e-marketplace built by the Kejriwal Government to assist Delhi-based businesses in growing and diversifying. The Dilli Bazaar portal will be built with new-age technology to improve the digital presence of Delhi’s businesses where traders, vendors, wholesalers, and service providers will thrive. The scheme's first phase will concentrate on involving product sellers on the platform. This platform will be connected to service providers in the second phase. The Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi has been tasked with assisting the Department of Industries in the Dilli Bazaar project and developing a strategic roadmap.
*Each vendor in Delhi will have their own store on the Dilli Bazaar portal*
Each vendor in Delhi will have their own store on the Dilli Bazaar portal, which is being developed by the Kejriwal Government. Where they will be able to showcase their shops and products through a comprehensive product catalogue. This will be an additional virtual store that will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will help sellers reach new customers in larger markets. This will make it easier for sellers to reach out to both domestic and international customers. The portal is intended to be the first and largest e-commerce marketplace under the Government of India's Digital Commerce Open Network (ONDC) initiative.
*Dilli Bazaar will be a boon for startups*
The Dilli Bazaar portal will also be extremely beneficial to startups. If a startup is starting a new project, it can sell its products on this portal. For the first time in the world, such a portal is being created in which all of Delhi's economic activities and services will be available to the entire world. This will significantly boost Delhi's GDP. Delhi's economic activities and employment will grow at a rapid pace. Tax revenue will rise rapidly, and Delhi will advance rapidly.
*Vision behind Dilli Bazaar*
- Showcasing Delhi's unique markets on a virtual platform
- Exposing Delhi's businesses to buyers and buying preferences globally
- Facilitating businesses to be setup, grow and diversify
- Creating ecosystem for Delhi's business as well as retail consumers to buy locally
- Providing credible and affordable e-Commerce platform to businesses

NEW DELHI: 21ST JUNE 2022-Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal joined ‘Dilli Ki Yogshala’ on the occasion of International Yoga Day to promote and practice yoga in the national capital. Motivating the people to switch over to a healthier life through Yoga, the CM said, “Throughout India, Delhi has become the city with the highest number of people doing Yoga in its parks. We are now on a mission to take this number from thousands to lakhs. We have made medical treatment completely free in Delhi’s hospitals. Our aim is to now ensure that every Delhiite takes up Yoga and never falls sick. If Yoga becomes a part of one’s life, it frees them of all diseases and tensions. Come be a part of ‘Dilli Ki Yogshala’, if you want to take up yoga, then call us on 9013585858, Delhi Government will provide you yoga teachers for free. Yoga is a beautiful gift of nature, we will teach yoga to people for free, those who want to criticise us can go on and keep criticising us.”
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia was also present on the occasion, leading the yoga routine besides the CM. He tweeted, “More than 17 thousand people practise yoga under ‘Dilli ki Yogshala’ at 546 locations in Delhi on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Dilli Ki Yogashala runs daily, it is not just a Yoga Day gimmick, we aim to make two crore Delhiites adopt yoga in their everyday life.”
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal took part in a mega-yogshala organised under the Dilli Ki Yogshala initiative at Thyagraj Stadium on Tueday. The event was held to mark the occasion of International Yoga Day and saw CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Shri Manish Sisodia practice Yoga with over hundreds of practitioners and beneficiaries of the Yogshala scheme. Dilli Ki Yogshala is a unique initiative of the Delhi Government that aims to make yoga accessible by bringing it to one's door for free. Under the scheme, Delhi Government provides a free yoga trainer to groups of 25 to learn yoga in community spaces and parks of the national capital. So far, 17,000 citizens have opted in for the scheme at 546 parks and public spaces across the national capital.
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal extended his greetings to the people of the world on the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’ and said, “Yoga provides a great deal of peace in one's life. Yoga helps the body to grow healthier and the mind to relax. If yoga becomes a way of life, both the body and the mind will be at ease. We know that yoga can help with a variety of ailments. There are numerous illnesses for which no cure has yet been discovered through medicine, but which can be healed by practising yoga. Stress is unavoidable in today's world because life is growing increasingly challenging and rapid. There is a lot of tension at home and at work. If yoga becomes a way of life for us, and we do it for half an hour or an hour every morning, diseases and stress will fade away.”
He added, “The last two years were very difficult during the time of Corona. When the third wave arrived last year, we began an experiment to evaluate if yoga could be beneficial to corona patients. I am pleased that the Delhi Government's yoga teachers and the professors of DPSRU performed such an excellent job. I want to congratulate all those people who trained the patients during the time of Corona. When they were infected, they were asked to practice yoga and were taught how to perform the asanas. These folks used to teach over 4,700 corona patients online. When the patients were surveyed, it was discovered that they all benefited. Our team did a lot of research on this as well. Although yoga does not cure corona, it does greatly reduce the intensity of corona when practised regularly.”
He continued, “Last year, we started a new initiative. Previously, on International Yoga Day, we would all get together and perform yoga for one day. It will not work, though, unless we make yoga a part of our daily lives. For many people, the issue is that yoga teachers are difficult to come by. Yoga has also become commercialised in recent years. If the teacher is not accessible, the fees are extremely exorbitant. Yoga teachers are hard to come by, so people must go a long way. As a result, we gathered a group of yoga instructors and trained them. Many yoga teachers were made available to the citizens in this way. In Delhi, we announced that if you gathered 25-30 individuals in your neighbourhood and wanted to practise yoga every day, you can call us and we would send you a free yoga teacher from the Government. There were numerous doubts and issues when this programme began. But now I'm glad that this programme is spreading quickly and ferociously throughout Delhi. On behalf of the Delhi government, yoga lessons are held in 546 locations throughout the city in the early morning. They are attended by individuals from various walks of life. It comprises the wealthy, the underprivileged, women, children, and the old. These classes are made up of people of different ages.”
He continued, “Around 17 thousand people practise yoga in these early morning classes. Someone told me that Delhi has become the city in the country where the most number of people practise yoga in parks. But now we need to turn thousands into lakhs. We need to get to the point where everyone in Delhi is doing yoga. In Delhi, we have a huge number of mohalla clinics. The hospitals in Delhi are also performing brilliantly. In addition, all medical treatment in Delhi was offered free of charge. If someone gets a disease, they can go to the hospital and receive free medical treatment. In government hospitals, all medicines, diagnostics, and operations are free. But we must question ourselves why we need to go to the hospital in the first place. It's not just about the money. The fact that the medications and tests are free does not imply that we should continue to visit the hospital. We must make every effort to avoid becoming ill in the first place. Why are we forced to be ill? Illness is not a pleasant experience.”
CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal stated, “You will be free of ailments if you practise yoga. It's not that you won't get caught through each disease, but your immune system will be powerful enough to fend off the majority of them. On the one hand, medical treatment has cured many diseases. However, you must now make every effort to ensure that no one becomes ill. Everyone in Delhi should be in good health. This is our current goal. Our goal is for everyone in every home to perform yoga first thing in the morning. The most important point is that yoga should be taught to children from an early age. I'll also ask the Delhi Education Minister to launch yoga classes in schools soon.”
He continued, “When I was in class 8, I learned how to do yoga. It was our summer vacation, and we lived near a Yogashram. There were two months of vacation. Some of our colony's children enrolled in the yoga ashram. I used to accompany them as well. I had mastered all of the asanas at the moment. Sutra Neti, Jal Neti, Dhoti, and Kunjal were some of my favourite rituals. Following that, I had to relocate for the sake of my school and career. Yoga, on the other hand, has stayed with me in certain ways. I practised yoga every day for several days and skipped it several times. However, what I learned as a child has stuck with me. If we inculcate the habit of yoga in childhood, then yoga will remain for life. Therefore, you have to teach yoga to your children from childhood. This is our aim.”
The CM concluded, “Some have questioned why the Delhi Government is teaching yoga for free. Yoga classes should be provided for free. I learned yoga for free, and I will continue to teach yoga for free to the general public. All of life's precious and meaningful things should be available for free. Now, I'm not sure if such capitalists will come along in the future and put a tax on air as well. The air, on the other hand, has been set free by God. Yoga is also a wonderful gift from God. Yoga is a wonderful natural gift. As a result, yoga should be free as well. We will teach you yoga for free, and those who criticise us may continue to do so.”
Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal tweeted and said, "Let us all take a pledge together on International Yoga Day. Do yoga and pranayama everyday. Delhi government has arranged free yoga classes for all of you everyday, do yoga yourself and encourage others for a healthy life. Come, let us also be a part of Dilli Ki Yogshala. If you also want to do yoga, then gather 20-25 people from your colony and call us on 9013585858, Delhi government will provide you a yoga teacher for free.”
At the same time, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia tweeted, "On the occasion of World Yoga Day, more than 17,000 people practised yoga at 546 places in Dilli ki Yogshala today. The unique feature of this initiative is that the Yogshala are run daily, not just on the day of Yoga Day. Our target is that 2 crore Delhiites start doing yoga everyday.”
