Shimla,October 11 2021 -The Centre for Child & Women Studies and Legal Aid Clinic of Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla in collaboration with Yuvasatta celebrated the International Day of Girl Child on October 11, 2021 Monday at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. During the celebration a Two-day Art Exhibition was inaugurated and presented, to advocate the rights of girl child. The art exhibition was inaugurated by Ms. Vandana Kumari, Chairperson of the Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Himachal Pradesh. During the Inaugural Address and appreciating the concerted efforts of the Centre for Child and Women Studies and Yuvasatta -NGO, Ms Vandana Kumari said that she feels blessed to know that an important step has been taken to strengthen the position of girls by safe guarding their rights. This exhibition showcases 550 art works of School girls of Chandigarh from Carmel Convent School, St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School, Government Model Sr. Sec. School, Dhanas&Kitabghar. These were earlier displayed around Independence Day at Chandigarh and now brought to Shimla to further spread the message of ‘Girls Rights’

Further, a nukkad natak was performed, by the Gadzookery” the Legal Aid Drama Groupof the University, at the ridge, the Mall, Shimla. The Natak was titled Kahani Jo Aam Hai promoting the rights of girl child. The students through the Natak very strongly advocated for the cause of girl child. The event gathered the attention of the citizenry of the city of Shimla and witnessed participation of over 100 people.

The occasion was celebrated under the guidance of Prof. NishthaJaswal, Vice Chancellor, HPNLU.
