PM KUSUM Yojana implemented in State to provide irrigation facility to farmers

SHIMLA-23rd October, 2020 -A Spokesperson of the Agriculture Department informed here today that Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Surksha evam Utthan Mahaabhiyan Yojana (PM KUSUM) has been implemented in the state to provide irrigation facility to the farmers. The scheme has been implemented in the state to provide irrigation facility the farmers could grow more cash crops and increase their income.

He said that under the scheme, with the use of solar pumps irrigation water would be made available to farmers in the fields for which development of necessary infrastructure has been proposed in the state. Besides this, to facilitate the farmers various irrigation schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Pravah Irrigation Scheme and Suksham Irrigation Scheme have been implemented in the state.

Under PM KUSUM Yojna, a provision of 85 percent financial assistance for pumping machinery has been made for setting up of solar pumps at personal and community level by farmers. In present financial year, a provision of Rs. 12 crore has been made under the scheme. A target of setting up one thousand solar pumps has been set during this year, for which 50 percent expenditure would be borne by Centre Government and 35 percent by State Government, whereas 15percent would be borne by the beneficiary.

He said that priority would be given to Kisan Vikas Sangh, Krishak Vikas Sangh and registered organization of farmers, which are registered under Society Act-2006. Under the scheme, priority would also be given to small, marginal farmers and to such farmers who are dependent on rain for irrigation. He said that those farmers who have the availability of water source for drip/ sprinkler are also eligible for the scheme.

Farmer can apply for providing assistance under the scheme in Sub division at Land Conservation Office. The farmer has to submit land respective documents, self attested ration card, photocopy of adhaar card, land certificate and affidavit. For further information regarding the scheme the farmer can contact the nearest sub divisional land conservation officer, Agriculture Officer of Block Development Office, Deputy Director Agriculture or office of Director Agriculture.

Users of ground water to register before 31st December

A Spokesperson of the Jal Shakti Department informed here today that the whole area of Himachal Pradesh has been notified for control of regulating the extraction of ground water extraction in any form with effect from 19 November, 2019 and beyond this date no ground water extraction in any form is allowed without proper permission of the HP Ground Water Authority.

The existing ground water abstraction structures for domestic irrigation, commercial and industrial purposes, constructed in the entire state of Himachal Pradesh are now also required to be registered.

He said that all the existing users of ground water in Himachal Pradesh are advised to submit their online applications for 'Certificate of Registration' through www.emerginghimachal.hp.gov.in portal of HP Ground Water Authority on or before 31st December, 2020.

He added that this portal beyond be deactivated in 31st December, 2020 and no application would be entertained after this date. He said that appropriate action would be taker under HP Ground Water (Regulation and Control of Development and Management) Act, 2005 and rules 2007 against the users of unauthorised existing tubewells, borewells and energised handpumps not registered with the HP Ground Water Authority Shimla.
