Chandigarh, November 5, 2025-Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, President of the National Human Rights & Anti-Corruption Force, Chandigarh, along with the members of the organization, expresses deep anguish and strong condemnation over the tragic incident in which Sh. Charanjit Singh died after collapsing in the court of the UT Finance Secretary during the hearing of a building violation case.
Mr. Panchhi has urged the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, to take immediate cognizance of this matter and to issue necessary directions to the officers of the Chandigarh Administration for the formulation of a comprehensive One-Time Settlement Policy for all pending building violation and misuse cases. Such a policy would bring long-awaited relief to thousands of affected citizens and help restore public faith in the justice and administrative systems.

The National Human Rights & Anticorruption Force strongly demands that appropriate compensation be provided to the bereaved family of the deceased, as a gesture of compassion and accountability, acknowledging the mental agony and suffering endured by the victim.
