Chandigarh, 17.10.26-The Vigilance Cell of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, organised a workshop on “ Accounts, Finance & Audit Procedures and Good Practices” today as part of the three-month Preventive Vigilance Campaign (August 17–November 16, 2026), being observed under the guidance of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

The technical session was delivered by Sh. Ravinder Singh, IAAS, Financial Advisor, PGIMER, who addressed key aspects of accounts, finance and audit procedures, highlighting good practices relevant to the Institute’s functioning.

In his introductory remarks, Prof. Sunil Dogra, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), PGIMER, highlighted the importance of preventive vigilance in routine institutional functioning. He emphasised that financial propriety is a shared responsibility and that transparent decision-making, adherence to prescribed rules, appropriate authorisation, accurate record-keeping and timely reconciliation help strengthen institutional accountability and public trust. He also underlined that preventive vigilance should facilitate good governance and responsible decision-making rather than create apprehension around legitimate administrative work.

The workshop aimed to sensitise faculty members, officers and staff to sound financial practices, compliance with prescribed procedures, proper documentation and accountability in the management of public funds. Employees of the PGIMER Satellite Centre, Sangrur, also joined the workshop through online mode. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 190 participants, including doctors, nursing staff, paramedical personnel and administrative employees, reflecting the institute-wide commitment to promoting vigilance awareness, transparency and integrity in official functioning.
