Chandigarh, 9 October: The NSS Units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised two impactful initiatives to promote digital safety, responsible citizenship, Swadeshi consciousness and self-reliance among youth.
Under Project KAVACH, an interactive session on ‘Cyber Security and Awareness’ was organised with the message “Speak Before You Suffer… Stand Against Cyberbullying”. The session was conducted by Mr. Gurcharan Singh, Faculty, Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI), Chandigarh, under the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Drawing on real-life cases, he sensitised students to cyberbullying, digital fraud, impersonation, online abuse and data security. He emphasised the importance of responsible digital behaviour, timely reporting of cybercrimes and speaking up against online harassment.
In another initiative, the NSS Units organised a Khadi Exhibition under ‘Seva Sankalp- Khadi Mahotsav 2026’, in collaboration with Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan, Sector 22-D, Chandigarh, and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India. The exhibition showcased a range of Khadi products and featured a live charkha demonstration and a Swadeshi Pledge. The initiative sought to promote indigenous products, sustainable practices, dignity of labour and economic self-reliance. An essay-writing competition on Gandhian values, Swadeshi, Khadi and cleanliness was also organised, with winners felicitated by the Khadi representatives.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma encouraged students to become responsible digital citizens, support indigenous products and local artisans, and embrace the values of Swadeshi, sustainability and self-reliance, thereby contributing meaningfully to nation-building.
