Chandigarh, October 4, 2026:The ‘Walk for Nasha Mukt Yuva’ was organised at Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University, today to promote awareness among youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage collective efforts towards a drug-free society. More than 350 participants took part in the walk, organised by MY Bharat Chandigarh, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, under the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ as part of the 100 Weeks Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan.
The programme began with warm-up exercises, Zumba and rhythmic yoga, followed by a nukkad natak by MY Bharat-NSS volunteers from Government College of Education, Sector 20, highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse and the role of youth in building a drug-free society. Sh. Vinay Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Chandigarh, administered the Nasha Mukt Yuva Pledge, with participants resolving to stay away from drugs and encourage others to do the same.
Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Goyal, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, was the Chief Guest and flagged off the walk, while Dr. Nemi Chand Golia, State NSS Officer, Chandigarh Administration, attended as Guest of Honour. Sh. Shivdhan Sharma, UT Director, MY Bharat, welcomed the guests and participants, while Dr. Anupam Bahri, NSS Programme Coordinator, Panjab University, delivered the vote of thanks. After the walk, participants signed a signature wall as a mark of their commitment to a drug-free society, followed by distribution of certificates and refreshments.
