Chandigarh, September 10, 2026: Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, today chaired a review meeting with the Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments to assess the progress of various ongoing matters and review departmental functioning.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed all Administrative Secretaries to ensure efficient and optimum utilisation of budgetary allocations, with particular emphasis on preventing the lapse of funds at the end of the financial year. He stressed the need for timely planning, execution and monitoring of expenditure so that allocated funds are effectively utilised for their intended purposes.

The Chief Secretary also directed that the accounts of corporations, boards and societies under the Chandigarh Administration be properly maintained and regularly monitored. He further emphasised that meetings of their respective Boards of Directors should be held strictly in accordance with the prescribed norms and that annual reports be prepared and submitted within the stipulated timelines.

While reviewing civic amenities in the city, the Chief Secretary directed the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, to repair and restore non-functional street lights at various locations in a time-bound manner. He emphasised the need for prompt action to ensure proper illumination and improved civic services for residents.

The Chief Secretary further directed all concerned departments to ensure that the flagship schemes of the Government of India are implemented in letter and spirit. He called for effective monitoring of outcomes and timely resolution of implementation-related issues.

He also stressed the effective implementation of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in Chandigarh through coordinated efforts by all concerned departments and agencies to achieve the objectives of the campaign.

The meeting was attended by Shri Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary; Shri Diprava Lakra, Finance Secretary; Shri Saurabh Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests; Shri Harpreet Singh Sudan, Special Commissioner, Municipal Corporation; Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, DIG; and other senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration.
