Chandigarh, September 5: BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, Punjab State Vice-President Paramjit Singh Kainth, said that the alleged police torture of two Dalit brothers from village Kakarala has now become not merely a complaint for the Bhagwant Mann-led ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ government, but a serious matter of constitutional accountability.
Kainth said that due to the effective intervention of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha, Punjab State President Sheetal Angural, the voice of the victim family reached the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. The Commission taking cognizance of the matter on September 4, 2026, and seeking a response from the Punjab Police directly questions the government’s claims that law and order in Punjab is completely under control.
He stated that the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, while initiating an inquiry/investigation into the matter under Article 338 of the Constitution, has sought an Action Taken Report from the Patiala SSP within 15 days of receipt of the notice. The report seeks complete details, including the FIR and sections invoked, arrests, charge-sheet/final report, and compensation provided to the victim.
Kainth posed a sharp question: “If the complaint of the Kakarala victim family was baseless, then why did the National Commission for Scheduled Castes initiate an inquiry by exercising its constitutional powers? Will the government now evade its accountability or bring the truth to light?”
Kainth said, “The BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha will not remain silent over any injustice against the Dalit community. Under the leadership of Sheetal Angural Ji, the Morcha will take the voice of the victims to every constitutional and legal forum and will hold the Bhagwant Mann government accountable.”
Kainth warned that any attempt to intimidate, suppress, or implicate the victim family in a false case will not be tolerated. The BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha will not remain silent over injustice against Dalits and will raise its voice for the victims at every level.
Kainth demanded that the victim family be provided immediate security, that a fair and time-bound investigation be ensured, and that strict action be taken against the accused if the allegations are proved. Now the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government will have to clarify whether it stands with the victims or with those allegedly shielding police excesses.
