13 challans issued in Manimajra; MC Chandigarh intensifies crackdown on banned polythene
Chandigarh, February 11:- In a firm enforcement action under the ongoing Swachh Survekshan 2026 campaign, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today conducted a special drive against the use of banned polythene in Manimajra, reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on single-use plastic.
During the enforcement raid, 13 challans were issued to violators found using prohibited plastic materials. The Corporation made it clear that strict action will continue against defaulters, and such surprise inspections will be carried out regularly to ensure full compliance with environmental norms.
Alongside enforcement, a comprehensive cleanliness and awareness campaign was organized at Shivalik Enclave, NAC Ward No. 6, Manimajra. Residents were sensitized on the critical importance of waste segregation at source and educated about segregating household waste into four distinct categories — wet waste, dry waste, domestic hazardous waste, and sanitary waste. The initiative aimed at strengthening citizen participation in sustainable waste management practices.
