Chandigarh-Date: 14 November 2025,Under the Able guidance of Principal Dr. Anita Kaushal NSS Unit of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 42, Chandigarh, conducted a field visit to Khajeri Village on 14 November 2025 to mark World Diabetes Day. The team was lead by NSS incharge Dr. Tajinder kaur. The visit aimed to spread awareness about diabetes, understand the health status of the villagers, and engage with the community through survey-based interaction.

Upon reaching the village, the team visited the local dispensary, where the doctors provided valuable guidance on diabetes, its symptoms, causes, prevention, and management. The session helped volunteers gain clarity on how lifestyle diseases are affecting rural populations and how awareness can play an important role in prevention.

The NSS volunteers also conducted a survey using a structured questionnaire. They interacted with several residents, collected information regarding their health conditions, daily routines, and awareness levels about diabetes. This survey helped in understanding the prevalence and risk factors related to diabetes in the village.

In addition, the volunteers actively spread awareness among the villagers, informing them about:
-Causes of diabetes
-Importance of a balanced diet
-Regular physical activity
-Early symptoms to watch for
-Need for timely medical check-ups

The outreach received a positive response from the community, and the session helped increase awareness regarding diabetes and its prevention.

The visit successfully fulfilled its objective of educating and engaging with the villagers, while also providing hands-on learning experience to NSS volunteers.
