Chandigarh, September 8:- The residents of ward No. 10, Chandigarh, under the leadership of city Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, has expressed deep solidarity with the people of Punjab who are enduring immense hardship due to the recent devastating floods.
The unprecedented rainfall has caused widespread destruction, leaving many families without homes, agricultural land, livestock, and tragically, even their loved ones. In this hour of crisis, the residents of Ward No. 10, Chandigarh, have come forward with compassion and collective responsibility to support the affected communities and handed over Rs. 19 lacs to the Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh for further course of action.
Through the noble platform of the Red Cross Society, Chandigarh, monetary donations and essential food packages have been collected to be delivered to flood-hit areas. Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla personally acknowledged the selfless and dedicated service of the Red Cross Society, which has consistently stood by people in distress during times of calamity.
The Mayor also sincerely appreciated the proactive leadership and heartfelt appeal of the Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, whose call for solidarity has inspired residents across the city to contribute generously towards this humanitarian cause.
As a token of gratitude and collective compassion, humble contributions in the form of cheques have been handed over to the Deputy Commissioner to further strengthen relief efforts for the people of Punjab.
Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said, “At this moment of suffering, it is our duty to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Punjab. I am proud of the residents of Ward No. 10 and of Chandigarh at large, who have risen to this occasion with unity and compassion.”
