CHANDIGARH, 08.09.25-As part of the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight 2025, an awareness lecture was organized at the Advanced Eye Centre (AEC), PGIMER. Dr. Deeksha, Senior Resident, highlighted the significance of eye donation and addressed common myths surrounding it. Nursing Officer Ms. Mandeep emphasized the vital role of nurses in promoting eye donation and sensitized students of NINE about their contribution to this noble cause.


During the fortnight, NINE organized activities including Rangoli, Poster, and Slogan competitions, with winners felicitated during the event. Students also took a pledge for eye donation, followed by an engaging discussion. Ms. Meenakshi Agnihotri, Nursing Students Coordinator and Tutor, stressed the importance of timely eye donation within 6–8 hours after death to help corneal blind individuals regain sight.

On 8th September 2025, a dedicated awareness talk was organized at Dev Samaj College, Sector 36, Chandigarh. Experts from the Eye Centre, including Dr. Indu, along with social workers Mukesh and Amritpal, addressed around 150 B.Ed. students, their Chairperson, and faculty members. Pamphlets were distributed, and students pledged to support the cause, committing to continue spreading awareness once they join schools after completing their B.Ed.

The initiative successfully created awareness and inspired the young generation to actively participate in the mission of giving the gift of sight.
