CHANDIGARH,08/9/25: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh, organized a workshop on print media software: Graphic Design and Page Layout under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme today. The resource person for the event was Mr. Naresh Malkania, a graphic designer and page layout expert at Amar Ujala, Chandigarh.
The workshop gave hands-on experience on industry-standard software, namely InDesign and QuarkXPress. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of newspaper making, including the structure of a newspaper and the process of preparing the first draft. The session also demonstrated how to use software in creating design and layout techniques, making the newspaper highly engaging for the participants. It also covered various graphic design and layout topics such as typography, color scheme, grid systems, page design, white space, masthead design, headline design, photo editing, etc. The interactive and insightful workshop broadened the perspective of the students of journalism, who aspire to pursue their careers in the field of print media.
