Various delegations call on Chief Minister

The delegations from the Kandaghat area of Solan district, B.Ed. students, representatives of the Livelihood Building under Municipal Corporation Shimla, and aspirants of MBBS and BDS courses met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh here today.

The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to their issues and assured them of appropriate action.

Strengthening Rural Economy is a Key Focus of the State Government: Chief Minister

CM meets delegations from National Rural Livelihood Mission and others

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while chairing a meeting with a delegation of the National Rural Livelihood Mission and the Himachal Pradesh 'Pashu Evam Krishi Sakhi Sang'h here today said that the State Government was committed to strengthen the rural economy and special emphasis was being laid on promoting natural farming.

For the first time, the State Government has fixed Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for milk, wheat, maize, and turmeric produced through natural farming. He said that the MSP for maize has been increased from Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 per kg, and for wheat from Rs. 40 to Rs. 60 per kg, benefitting lakhs of farmers.

He informed that the State will soon start purchasing raw turmeric at Rs. 90 per kg to promote its cultivation under the brand name ‘Himachali Haldi’. Over 1.58 lakh farmers engaged in natural farming have already been certified in the State so far.

The Chief Minister added that an e-commerce portal ‘Him-Ira’ has been launched to facilitate the sale of products made by women self-help groups. Products like Him-Ira are gaining popularity even outside the State.

He assured the delegation that their demands would be considered sympathetically and necessary action would be taken.

Rs. 55.51 crore released for Phina Singh irrigation project: Deputy Chief Minister

The long-awaited Phina Singh irrigation project in Kangra district has received a sanction of Rs. 55.51 crore from the Central Government under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) for States annual plan 2025-26.

The government in several round of talks and deliberations with the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, has taken up this matter since the work on the project was being affected due to insufficient funding.

"I personally also advocated for the release of funds so that the project could be completed well in time and also took up several other key issues related to this project before the Centre" stated the Deputy Chief Minister. This project had been stalled for over a decade, but it has now emerged as a ray of hope for the farmers. Upon completion, the scheme will provide irrigation facilities to thousands of hectares of land, significantly boosting agricultural productivity.

Dharti Aaba Campaign from 15th to 30th June : Jagat Singh Negi

Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that to ensure welfare of the tribal community the Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Development Campaign will be launched from 15th to 30th June in tribal dominated villages. About 1,17,040 tribal people from 270 villages in 10 districts will benefit from various government schemes. The core objective of the campaign is to reach eligible tribal-dominated beneficiaries and ensure their inclusion in over 35 central and state-sponsored public welfare schemes through block level village camps.

A special campaign will be launched in selected, where service camps will be held to provide services like Aadhaar update and registration, ration cards, Ayushman cards, caste certificates, and other necessary public services, he said.

He said that many ministries have been included under this campaign such as Rural Development, Power, Renewable Energy, Health and Family Welfare, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Women and Child Development, Education, AYUSH, Telecommunications, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and IT, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Panchayati Raj, Tourism, and Tribal Affairs.

He informed that a provisional budget allocation has been proposed for five years for the schemes identified by these ministries. Based on detailed analysis, departments will prepare action plans and send them to the respective central ministries for approval and budget release.

He directed all concerned departments, Deputy Commissioners, Block Development Officers, and staff to ensure the campaign is implemented efficiently so that tribal communities can get timely information and benefit from government schemes.
