CHANDIGARH, 13.06.25-The Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, plays a pivotal role in promoting a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, initiated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The club empowers students through diverse activities like pledge ceremonies, Yogasana competitions, one-act plays, and inter-college quizzes, all designed to raise awareness about substance abuse. By conducting mentorship programmes, seminars, and capacity-building workshops, it equips youth with the skills to resist peer pressure and make healthy lifestyle choices. Public rallies and expert-led sessions by psychologists and social workers further strengthen the outreach. The club also organizes visits to de-addiction and rehabilitation centres, offering student’s first-hand insight into the impact of addiction and the importance of recovery. These immersive experiences, coupled with visits to wellness centres, underline the value of mindfulness and emotional strength, making the club a dynamic force in the fight against drug abuse.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma said that in keeping with the college’s commitment to holistic development, the VADA Club not only spreads awareness but also instills resilience, responsibility, and empathy among the students. She added that through its multifaceted initiatives, the club is nurturing young ambassadors of change who are prepared to lead the charge against drug abuse.
