MRSAFPI sets another benchmark by achieving success rate of 56.64%

Chandigarh, June 9:Adding yet another feather in the cap of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) SAS Nagar, Six more cadets have been commissioned into the Indian Army after successfully passing out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, on Saturday. The passing out parade was reviewed by Lt. Gen. M. V. Suchindra Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Northern Command.

With the commissioning of these six cadets- Amrinder Singh from district Mohali, ShobhitDeep Singh (Gurdaspur), Abhay Pratap Singh (Mohali), Aditya Burmi (Hoshiarpur), Aditya Sharma (Mohali) and Tushant (Pathankot), a total of 158 cadets of Maharaja Ranjit Singh AFPI have been commissioned as officers into the Indian Armed Forces since the inception of the Institute.

Extending heartiest congratulations to the cadets, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora wished them a successful innings in the Armed forces. He further revealed that 50 cadets of MRSAFPI have been commissioned since the S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led state Government is at the helm of affairs in Punjab. The institute has set another benchmark by achieving a success rate of 56.64%.

Director of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute Major General Ajay H. Chauhan (Retd) informed that two more Cadets from the Institute, Jaskirat Singh from district Mohali and Saksham Gupta from Jalandhar district, were commissioned as Sub -Lieutenant in the Indian Navy in May this year. He called upon the cadets to live upto the motto of the Institute, “Nischay Kar Apni Jeet Karoon” and be true soldiers in service of the Nation.

PUNJAB GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR SRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI'S MARTYRDOM DAY

Chandigarh, June 09:The Punjab government has declared Monday, June 10, a public holiday to mark Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji's martyrdom day.

An official spokesperson said that this holiday has been declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881. He said that all government offices, boards, corporations, and educational institutions across the state will remain closed on June 10. The Personnel Department has issued a notification in this regard.

CHANDIGARH, June 9:In order to ensure pro-citizen policing in the state as desired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Sunday directed all the senior Police officers from the rank of Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGsP) upto Station House Officers (SHOs) to remain present in their offices from 11am to 1pm on all working days to resolve public grievances.

“Directions have been issued to all Range ADGPs/IGPs/DIGs, Commissioners of Police, district SSPs, Sub divisional DSPs & SHOs to be available in their offices from 11 AM to 1 PM on all working days for redressal of public grievances. Being available to the citizens is the foremost duty of police,” the DGP informed on his official X handle (formerly Twitter).

He said that at the Punjab Police Headquarters (PPHQ) in Chandigarh, senior officers of the rank of Special DGP/Additional DGP have been assigned days for being available to the citizens for meeting them and resolving their grievances.

As per the information, Special DGP Welfare Ishwar Singh has been assigned Monday to listen to public grievances. Similarly, ADGP Security SS Srivastava to remain available for public on Tuesday, ADGP Traffic AS Rai on Wednesday, ADGP Provisioning G Nageswara Rao on Thursday and Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla on Friday.

Terming ‘Accessibility to Citizens’ as an important component of the people centric policing, DGP Gaurav Yadav also asked the officers to remain available on phone and pick calls of general public to listen to their issues calmly and resolve them.

Punjab Police would continually strive to maintain robust Law and Order in the State, he added.

CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, June 9:Amidst the ongoing drive against anti-social elements launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Rural Police in an intelligence based operation has solved the 2022 Tarn Taran Church Desecration case with the arrest of key accused Jaswinder Singh alias Munshi of Talwandi Sobha Singh in district Tarn Taran, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

Police teams have also recovered one illegal 9mm pistol along with one magazine and two live cartridges, one Splendor Motorcycle and one mobile phone from the possession of arrested accused person.

As per the information, four unidentified persons with their faces covered had vandalised statues of Lord Jesus and Mother Mariam at a Church in Thakkarpura village of district of Tarn Taran and fled after setting the Pastor’s car on fire in August 31, 2022. In connection with the incident, the FIR no. 148 dated 31-8-2022 had been registered under sections 295-A, 452, 427, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 25 of the Arms Act at Sadar Patti Police Station in Tarn Taran.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during preliminary investigations, it was revealed by accused Jaswinder Munshi that he along with his associate Gurwinder Singh alias Afridi of village Tut, Tarn Taran and two other accomplices had committed desecration at Church and had also set afire the car of a Pastor in August 2022. Further investigations are on, he said.

Sharing operation details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amritsar Rural Satinder Singh said that following an intel-input that accused Jaswinder alias Munshi is going to deliver weapon consignment on his black Splendor motorcycle, Police teams laid a special Naka in the area of Police Station Chatiwind and managed to arrest the accused person after recovering a pistol from his possession. Police teams are on manhunt to nab accused Gurwinder Afridi and two other accused persons involved in the desecration of the Church, he added.

A fresh FIR no. 71 dated 09/06/2024 has been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Chatiwind in Amritsar.
