Chandigarh, 8th May 2025:On the occasion of World Red Cross Day, the Governor of Punjab and President of the Punjab State Red Cross Society Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria released the Red Cross Flag at a solemn ceremony held at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.
Red Cross Volunteers (students) had the honour of pinning the Red Cross badge on the Hon’ble Governor. In his address, the Governor lauded the efforts of the Punjab State Red Cross Society in promoting humanitarian services and actively engaging youth through universities, colleges, and schools. He emphasized the significance of youth participation in raising awareness about critical social issues, especially in supporting the campaign against drug abuse in the state.
Sh. Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Secretary of the Punjab State Red Cross Society, shared that the Red Cross Flag is distributed to government and non-government educational institutions, departments, and NGOs to encourage voluntary contributions. These funds are vital for the Red Cross’s ongoing welfare activities, aimed at supporting the vulnerable and underprivileged.
The event witnessed the presence of Officials and Volunteers from the Punjab State Red Cross Society, and other dignitaries.
Shri V.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to the Governor of Punjab, was also present at the occasion.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to uphold the core principles of the Red Cross: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
