Shimla, 17.05.25-The Education Minister, Rohit Thakur has strongly refuted the baseless and misleading reports circulating in a section of the media suggesting that the Directorate of School Education and other key directorates are being shifted from Shimla to Dharamshala. He stated that these claims are entirely unfounded and not based on any official policy or decision of the state government.
The Education Minister clarified that Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has issued unequivocal and firm directions during a recent review meeting of the Education Department that the Directorate of School Education, along with any other directorates, will not be shifted from Shimla under any circumstances. He asserted that there is no proposal or consideration whatsoever to relocate the Directorate of School Education and such misleading reports are completely contrary to the state government’s policy. Shimla will continue to serve as the administrative nucleus of the state, and the government is fully committed to safeguarding its status as the centre of all major departmental and governance-related activities.
There is no move or proposal under consideration to shift the Directorate of Education from Shimla, and its operations will continue from the state capital as before. He urged the media and the public not to be influenced by speculative or unverified reports and to rely only on official communication for accurate information. The government remains committed to administrative stability, good governance and public service delivery, and any decisions are taken only after due consideration of all factors.
