Dress code, uniform and distinct colour scheme for CBSE schools to be finalised soon: CM

SHIMLA-7 September, 2026-Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Education Department to finalise the dress code for teachers and uniforms for students of CBSE schools at the earliest, along with a distinct colour scheme for the school buildings. Chairing a meeting of the Education Department, the Chief Minister said that the dress code for teachers in CBSE schools would be implemented from 1^st October this year. He also discussed with the officers the modalities for finalising the logo of the CBSE schools run by the State Government.

The Chief Minister further said that attendance would be marked three times a day in these CBSE schools to ensure discipline and punctuality. He said that the State Government was making concerted efforts to provide quality education to students studying in rural areas through CBSE schools. Students would be provided education at affordable rates in the CBSE schools run by the State Government, whereas education in private CBSE schools was comparatively expensive, he added.

Sh. Sukhu said that the State Government had already appointed teachers in these schools. He added that vacancies arising due to any reason in future would also be filled on priority to ensure that the studies of students were not suffered for want of staff. He directed the officers to make all necessary arrangements in this regard.

Advocate General Anup Rattan, Secretary Education Rakesh Kanwar, Director of School Education Ashish Kohli and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.

Govt. contemplating to grant NPA to Medical Officers (Specialist):CM

• Govt. to spend Rs. 800 crore on strengthening of cancer care institutions

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presiding over a meeting of the Health Department here today said that the state government is contemplating to grant Non Practicing Allowance (NPA) to Medical Officers (Specialist). He said that the state government was committed to offer world class health care services to the patients within the state and numerous steps have been taken in this regard yielding positive outcomes.

He said that the state government was prioritising to strengthen all the medical colleges of the state and it was filling up all the vacant posts in the health care institutions.

Sh. Sukhu said that the state government was going to spend Rs. 800 crore for strengthening cancer care institutions across the state in view of rising cases of cancer in the state. He directed to constitute an expert committee to recommend about the future roadmap to strengthen the cancer care institutions. He said that the state government was in the process to procure high-end machines and equipments at par with AIIMS Delhi for bolstering the diagnostic and patient care facilities.

The Chief Minister said that the state government was planning exposure visits to the renowned and world class health care institutions abroad for the medical students and faculties to acquaint them with the world class practices of the treatment and incorporate them in the health institutions of the State. He said that the state government has already sent meritorious students of schools and technical institutions on the foreign exposure visits as these visits contribute meaningfully in their learning experiences.

Sh. Sukhu also said that the state government was also planning to move forward in the direction of new age health care techniques such as gene and molecular therapy.

Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, MLA Sanjay Awasthy, Chairman, H.P. Buildings and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Nardev Kanwar, Secretary Health Ashish Singhmar and other senior officers were also present in the meeting while Principals of Government Medical Colleges of the state joined the meeting virtually.
