CHANDIGARH, September 19, 2025 – The Department of Nursing at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh, today held the closing ceremony for its comprehensive induction program for newly recruited Nursing Officers. The week-long program, which began on September 11, 2025, was designed to orient the new staff with the hospital's ethos and operational protocols.
The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Ajay Chagti, IAS, Hon’ble Health Secretary, UT Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest. The occasion was also graced by Professor G.P. Thami, Director Principal, and Professor Dasari Harish, Medical Superintendent of GMCH. The report of the whole program was read by the coordinator Mrs. Poonam Verma(nursing tutor)
The Hon’ble Health Secretary congratulated the Department of Nursing for its significant contribution in organizing the program. He extended a warm welcome to the new nursing officers, praising their enthusiasm for learning and officially welcoming them into the GMCH family. He advised the new recruits to dedicate themselves to their roles and actively contribute to raising the standards of patient care at the institution.
Professor G.P. Thami, Director Principal, also addressed the gathering, congratulating the entire team of the Nursing Department for their hard work in successfully conducting the induction program on such a large scale.
To acknowledge the efforts behind the program's success, the Hon’ble Health Secretary awarded certificates of appreciation to the key organizers. The program was successfully managed under the guidance of Chief Coordinator Mrs. Amanvir Kaur (Nursing Superintendent) and Coordinators Mrs. Navjot Kaur, Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, Mrs. Jaswinder Kaur, and Mrs. Poonam (Assistant Nursing Superintendents) who were felicitated along with other committee members and team of senior nursing officers and resource persons for their invaluable contributions.
