Chandigarh, February 1:-In a significant step towards strengthening citizen participation and ensuring responsive governance, City Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi will hold an Open ‘Janta Darbar’ on February 2, 2025 (Monday) at the Mayor’s Office, 5th Floor, Municipal Corporation Building, Sector 17, Chandigarh at 11.00 am.

Sharing details of the initiative, the Mayor said that the Janta Darbar will serve as a direct platform for the residents of the “City Beautiful” to voice their issues, grievances and suggestions related to all Municipal Services. Citizens can approach the Mayor personally with their concerns, which will be noted on the spot by the concerned officers to ensure prompt and effective redressal.

The Mayor further informed that MC Commissioner along with a team of senior officers of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh will be present during the Janta Darbar, enabling immediate review of issues and expediting decision-making. This collective approach, he said, will help bridge the gap between citizens and administration while improving service delivery.

Emphasising the Corporation’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Sh. Saurabh Joshi stated that such Janta Darbars will be organised on a regular basis. He added that field inspections related to the grievances raised by citizens will also be conducted regularly, ensuring that problems are not only heard but resolved at the earliest on ground.

Highlighting the focus on ease of living, the Mayor said that issues pertaining to Chandigarh Administration and other allied departments, if raised during the Janta Darbar, will also be documented and actively followed up with the concerned authorities to ensure early resolution.

The Mayor appealed to the citizens to make optimum use of this initiative and actively participate, reiterating that people-centric governance remains the top priority of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
