Chandigarh, 22 September: The NSS Units, Red Ribbon Club/AIDS Awareness Committee and Health Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, organised a Blood Donation Camp wherein 90 units of blood were donated. The camp, supported by Sukh Foundation, Chandigarh, aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation among students and staff and sensitise the college community towards the importance of contributing to the availability of safe blood for those in need. Dr. Vijay Tadia, Associate Professor and Joint Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest. Mr. Vinay Kumar, District Level Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Chandigarh" graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the college community. The initiative also provided an opportunity to promote awareness about the significance of voluntary blood donation and the role individuals can play in supporting patients requiring blood and blood components. Pledge for organ and blood donation was also administered on this occasion.
Officiating Principal Ms Neena Sharma said that blood donation is a simple yet meaningful act of service that can make a vital difference to someone’s life. She added that such initiatives not only contribute to meeting the need for blood but also nurture a spirit of empathy, social responsibility and community service among our students.
