Chandigarh, September 19, 2026: As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and in line with the vision of the Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, to curb drug abuse, the Drugs Control Wing conducted raids at chemist shops in Sectors 40, 41 and 23-C. The raids were carried out under the guidance of the Secretary Health and the Director Health Services-cum-Drugs Controller, U.T. Chandigarh.

The inspection team comprised Shri Tajinder Singh and Shri Amit Lakhanpal, Drugs Inspectors, Chandigarh Administration.

On September 16, 2026, at around 10:00 PM, the team inspected M/s Sai Medical Agency, Sector 40, Chandigarh, and seized five types of allopathic drug formulations containing Pregabalin. A total of 820 capsules, valued at approximately ₹13,000, were seized. These drugs are prone to misuse. The firm failed to produce the purchase and sale records pertaining to the seized drugs.

On September 17, 2026, the team inspected M/s Sood Medical Store, Sector 41, Chandigarh, and seized three types of allopathic drug formulations containing Tramadol and Codeine. The seizure comprised 120 capsules and 35 bottles of cough syrup, valued at approximately ₹27,000. These drugs are prone to misuse. The firm failed to produce the relevant purchase and sale records.

Subsequently, on September 18, 2026, at around 10:00 PM, the inspection team, accompanied by officials of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, inspected M/s Rai Medicos, Sector 23-C, Chandigarh. The team seized five types of allopathic drug formulations containing Pregabalin and Codeine Phosphate. The seizure comprised 800 capsules and three bottles of cough syrup, valued at approximately ₹26,000. These drugs are prone to misuse. The firm failed to produce the purchase and sale records pertaining to the seized drugs.

The Drugs Controller, U.T. Chandigarh, is issuing show-cause notices to the firms concerned. Such enforcement drives will continue in the future as well.
