CHANDIGARH,19.09.26-On the occasion of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, a series of awareness activities were organised in the community with the objective of promoting nutrition, hand hygiene, food safety and healthy eating practices among children and their families.
An awareness activity on Hand Washing and Balanced Diet was organised at Khuda Jassu under the coordination of the Anganwadi Supervisor. The programme witnessed active participation from the ANM, Professor Khushboo Singh, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs), and students of PGGCG, Sector 11. The participants were sensitised about the importance of a balanced and nutritious diet for maintaining good health and supporting proper growth and development. This was followed by a practical hand-washing demonstration, wherein local beneficiaries were educated about the correct steps of hand washing and the importance of maintaining hand hygiene in preventing infections and diseases.
Another awareness session on Food Hygiene and Safe Cooking Practices was organised at Bapudham Colony for parents of children in the age group of 3–6 years attending the Anganwadi Centre and receiving Hot Cooked Meals (HCM). The session was conducted by the Anganwadi Supervisor, who sensitised the parents about the importance of HCM in meeting the nutritional requirements of young children, age-appropriate eating habits, nutritional quality of food, and the need to maintain proper food hygiene and safe cooking practices.
The mothers actively participated in the session and were encouraged to adopt healthy, nutritious and hygienic food practices at home. Emphasis was laid on safe handling, preparation and serving of food to ensure the health and well-being of children and to support their proper growth and development.
The activities reinforced the message of Rashtriya Poshan Maah by promoting community participation and encouraging families to make nutrition, hygiene and food safety an integral part of their daily lives
