Chandigarh, 17 September 2026-The Chandigarh Administration will organise the launch of Bharat Taxi in U.T. Chandigarh on 18 September 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Multipurpose Hall, Basement, New U.T. Secretariat Building, Sector 9, Chandigarh. The event is being organised by the Department of Cooperation, U.T. Chandigarh.

Shri Gulab Chand Kataria Ji, Hon’ble Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Shri Murlidhar Mohol Ji, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation, and Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar Ji, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Cooperation, will grace the function as distinguished dignitaries.

The launch of Bharat Taxi in Chandigarh is an important initiative in the cooperative sector and seeks to bring the spirit of cooperation into the technology-driven mobility sector. The initiative places driver members at the centre of the cooperative model and aims to encourage their participation and stake in the platform. It also reflects the growing role of technology in enabling cooperative institutions to enter emerging areas of economic activity and service delivery.

The formal programme will include the digital inauguration of Bharat Taxi by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, followed by a ceremonial flag-off of Bharat Taxi vehicles.

The Chandigarh Administration has been taking steps to strengthen the cooperative sector and encourage initiatives based on participation, transparency and the use of technology. The introduction of Bharat Taxi in U.T. Chandigarh is expected to further expand the scope of the cooperative model into the mobility sector and provide a platform for driver members to participate as stakeholders.
