Chandigarh, September 8: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij launched a strong counterattack on Congress MP Deepender Hooda over his remarks regarding Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini’s visit to Punjab. He said that “Chief Minister Nayab Saini is in Punjab as well as Haryana, and he is managing both places efficiently. He is taking Haryana forward at a rapid pace and is going to uproot the rotten government in Punjab and establish a Bharatiya Janata Party government there, represented by the lotus symbol.”
Sh. Vij was responding to questions from media persons today.
Reacting to Congress MP Deepender Hooda’s allegations that sports are not being promoted in Haryana, Energy Minister Anil Vij said, “Those who make allegations keep making them, but the truth speaks for itself.”
Anil Vij questioned what the Congress had done during its tenure, stating that under the BJP government, a FIFA-approved football stadium had been built in Ambala, along with an international-standard all-weather swimming pool, a gymnastics hall and a badminton hall.Taking a dig at Deepender Hooda, Minister Vij said that “Deepender Hooda should get his spectacles checked by a good doctor and have them changed.”

Chandigarh, September 8: Haryana Transport Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that a meeting was held today with the Haryana Roadways Karamchari Sanjha Morcha in a cordial atmosphere. Directions have been issued to the concerned officers to take prompt action on various demands raised by the employees’ unions. He said that the decisions taken in today’s meeting would be reviewed after one month.
Sh. Vij said that it was also decided in the meeting to appoint a nodal officer in every district in view of incidents of quarrelling and physical assault by anti-social elements against drivers and conductors while they are on duty. In case of any such incident involving a driver or conductor, they will inform their respective nodal officer. Thereafter, such cases will be dealt with in coordination with the concerned district administration.
Sh. Vij was chairing a meeting held in Chandigarh today with office-bearers of the Haryana Roadways Karamchari Sanjha Morcha to discuss various demands of the employees. Commissioner and Secretary, Transport Department, Sh. Atul Kumar; Director, State Transport, Sh. Dhirendra Khadgata; Additional Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. Hitesh Meena; and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
“Agreement reached on 80 to 90 percent of demands”: Vij
Sh. Vij said that once a meeting is held, action on the demands is initiated immediately. He said that decisions had been taken after considering demands related to overtime, bonus and other issues. He stated that “agreement was reached on approximately 80 to 90 percent of the demands in today’s meeting.” Regarding the demand for an increase in the grade pay of conductors, it was decided that the system prevailing in neighbouring states would be studied and the matter would subsequently be sent to the government. Similarly, the proposal to grant conductors three increments on the lines of clerks would also be referred to the Finance Department. Regarding promotion opportunities, Sh. Vij said that employees should have adequate opportunities for career advancement.
700 conductors to be recruited soon; process initiated for 2,072 regular posts: Vij
Regarding the demand for fresh recruitment against vacant posts of drivers and conductors, Sh. Vij said that 700 conductor posts would be filled soon. At the same time, a proposal for the appointment of 2,072 regular conductors has been submitted for the Chief Minister’s approval so that it can subsequently be sent to the Haryana Staff Selection Commission. In addition, Vij directed the officers to ensure the promotion of 700 conductors at the earliest.
He said that the matters concerning grant of higher pay grade to drivers and creation of the post of Stand In-charge would be re-examined and subsequently sent to the government and the Finance Department. The meeting also discussed the demand for granting earned leave, as was available earlier, to drivers, conductors, sub-inspectors, inspectors and workshop employees. The matter regarding promotion of Group-D employees recruited in the workshop in 2018 to technical posts would also be reconsidered and sent to the Finance Department and the government for approval.
Haryana Roadways timetable to be revised soon: Vij
In the presence of representatives of various unions, Vij directed the concerned officers to revise the Haryana Roadways bus timetable soon and ensure that no private bus operates ahead of a Haryana Roadways bus by a short interval. He said that discussions were also held on increasing the number of electric buses and inducting them into the transport fleet, and the concerned officers were directed to take further necessary action in this regard.
The meeting also discussed reducing the required experience for the post of Superintendent from 12 years to 5 years, increasing the number of Assistant posts to facilitate the promotion of clerks and other matters. The officers informed the meeting that these demands would be referred to the Rationalisation Commission.
It was also agreed that drivers and conductors would be given overtime after completing eight hours of duty. The Transport Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that overtime is provided as per rules after completion of eight hours of duty. Similarly, rationalisation of employee postings and related matters would also be undertaken.
“Night halt, bonus and other demands also discussed”: Vij
Sh. Vij said that the matter of providing night halt facilities to drivers and conductors and delegating powers relating to payment for 25 days to the concerned General Managers would be referred to the Finance Department. Similarly, the matter of granting a bonus equivalent to one month’s salary to all employees and officers, on the lines of police personnel, would be sent to the Chief Minister. The meeting also discussed the ex-gratia policy, risk allowance, cashless medical facility, HREC and other issues.
“Chief Minister approves increase in uniform and shoe allowances”: Vij
The demands regarding uniform allowance, shoe allowance and washing allowance were also discussed with representatives of the unions. The officers informed the meeting that a proposal had been sent to the government to increase the summer uniform allowance from ₹1,350 to ₹2,000 and the winter uniform allowance from ₹1,450 to ₹1,780.
Similarly, a proposal to increase the shoe allowance from ₹1,000 to ₹1,600 had also been submitted. The proposal has been approved by the Chief Minister and the matter is now with the Finance Department.
Representing the Haryana Roadways Karamchari Sanjha Morcha, State President Ashok Khokhar, State General Secretary Sunil Sharma, State President Pawan Saharan, Chandra Solanki, Karmveer Narwal, Nishan Singh, Dinesh, Neeraj Sharma, Vijay, Ashok Kumar and other office-bearers were present at the meeting.
