Chandigarh, July 25:The Indian Buildings Congress (IBC), Chandigarh & Haryana Centre, under the aegis of the Indian Buildings Congress, organised its Mid-Term Session and National Seminar on “Services in High Rise Buildings” on Saturday at Hotel Mountview, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The seminar witnessed participation from engineers, architects, planners, consultants, academicians, government officials and industry experts from across the country.

Mrs. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary Engineering, Chandigarh Administration, inaugurated the seminar as the Chief Guest by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The function was attended by Sh. O.P. Goel, Founder President, Indian Buildings Congress; Sh. C. Debnath, President, IBC; Sh. Toly Basar, Vice President, IBC; Sh. Anil Kumar Dahiya, Engineer-in-Chief and Chairman, IBC Haryana Centre; Sh. C.B. Ojha, Vice President and Honorary Secretary, IBC, along with senior engineers, architects and distinguished delegates.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Prerna Puri appreciated the Indian Buildings Congress for organising a seminar on a subject of growing importance. She said rapid urbanisation and the increasing construction of high-rise buildings have made efficient building services essential for ensuring safety, energy efficiency, sustainability and occupant comfort. She emphasised the need for adopting modern technologies, integrated planning and strict adherence to safety standards for developing smart, resilient and environmentally responsible urban infrastructure. She also highlighted the important role of engineers, architects and technical professionals in shaping sustainable urban development.

The seminar featured technical sessions on Green Building Requirements for Building Services, Innovative Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) Services, Fire Services in High Rise Buildings and Automation and Control of Building Maintenance Services.

Experts, academicians and industry professionals delivered technical presentations, including several through virtual mode, and shared their experiences, case studies and best practices related to the planning, design, execution, operation, safety, energy efficiency and maintenance of services in high-rise buildings.

The deliberations focused on intelligent building management systems, energy conservation, green building technologies, advanced fire safety systems, vertical transportation, HVAC systems, smart automation, digital monitoring and predictive maintenance. Discussions also addressed the challenges of integrating multiple building services while ensuring operational reliability, occupant safety and environmental sustainability.

Participants actively interacted with the experts on issues related to design standards, code compliance, implementation challenges and maintenance practices. The seminar provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing among professionals engaged in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of high-rise buildings.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, speakers, delegates, sponsors and organising committee members.
