Chandigarh, April 24:- Demonstrating proactive governance and commitment towards nation-building, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today conducted a Self-Enumeration drive under the upcoming Census of India 2027 (जनगणना 2027), aligning with the theme “जनगणना से जन कल्याण”.

The initiative was carried out under the leadership of Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, MC Chandigarh, accompanied by Dr. Himanshu Gupta, Joint Commissioner, and Sh. Sanjay Arora, Chief Engineer, along with officials from various departments.

The drive was conducted in coordination with Census authorities to promote awareness and participation in the digital self-enumeration process.

During the programme, officers and employees enthusiastically participated in the self-enumeration exercise and were sensitized about its significance in ensuring accurate, transparent, and reliable data collection. The initiative highlights the importance of adopting digital platforms for efficient census operations and aims to encourage wider public participation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner emphasized that accurate census data forms the backbone of effective governance, enabling informed planning, policy formulation, and implementation of welfare schemes. He urged citizens to actively engage in the self-enumeration process and contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.

Reaffirming its commitment, MC Chandigarh assured full support to the successful conduct of Census 2027 and appealed to all residents to make use of the self-enumeration facility for a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient census process.
