Chandigarh, 5 April:Postgraduate Department of Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Career Counselling Cell and under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised a one-day workshop on ‘Legal Essentials for Startups: GST Registration, Compliance and Return Filing’.
The resource person for the workshop, CA Dr. Jyoti Soi, delivered an insightful and practice-oriented session aimed at familiarising students with the foundational aspects of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. She elaborated on key components such as GST registration, statutory compliance, and return filing procedures, while also explaining the significance of GST in ensuring transparency and accountability in business operations. Emphasising experiential learning, Dr. Soi provided a step-by-step demonstration of the GST registration process and return filing on the GST portal. The session effectively blended theoretical understanding with practical exposure, enabling participants to develop a clear and functional understanding of compliance requirements essential for startups and emerging entrepreneurs. The workshop served as a valuable platform for students to strengthen their knowledge of business regulations and legal frameworks, thereby enhancing their readiness for entrepreneurial ventures.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the initiative, stating that such workshops play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. She highlighted that equipping students with practical legal knowledge is essential for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and responsible business practices.
