Chandigarh, 1 April: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women extended active support to a Blood Donation cum Medical Camp organised by village councillor Mr. Hardeep Singh at Buterla village. The camp marked the 31st Blood Donation Camp, held in commemoration of the 17th memorial of Sardar Gurnam Singh Buterla. The primary objective of the initiative was to promote awareness about the importance of healthcare among rural communities and to encourage voluntary blood donation as a vital contribution towards addressing urgent medical needs.
The camp offered a range of essential healthcare services, including consultations for skin disorders, psychiatric concerns, eye and dental check-ups, along with general wellness assessments. A team of nine dedicated UBA volunteers from the Buterla unit participated enthusiastically, ensuring the smooth coordination and successful execution of the camp. Their committed efforts were duly acknowledged, and certificates of appreciation were awarded to them by the village councillor.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and stated that such outreach programmes play a crucial role in fostering a spirit of social responsibility among students while addressing the healthcare needs of rural communities.She commended the volunteers for their dedication and emphasised the importance of sustained community engagement through meaningful service.
