Chandigarh, March 18, 2026: The Readers Club of the College Library, GGDSD College, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the National Digital Library of India, successfully concluded it's annual literary fest, Wordsmith’s Gala 3.0 with a thought-provoking lecture on ‘Understanding Bhagat Singh: Idea, Legacy and Relevance Today.’
The concluding session featured Prof. Chaman Lal, Former Dean, Faculty of Languages, Panjab University, Chandigarh, who delivered an engaging and insightful talk commemorating the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. The session sparked meaningful discussions on themes of justice, resistance and national identity.
Spanning from January 29 to March 18, 2026, Wordsmith’s Gala 3.0 featured a vibrant series of literary and cultural activities aimed at promoting reading, creativity and intellectual engagement. The fest commenced with Basant Utsav, marked by Maa Saraswati Pooja. A Bibliotherapy initiative followed, collecting over 100 books across diverse genres and enriching the college library.
The inter-college online competition ‘Literary Lounge’ witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across institutions in events such as logo designing, photography and short story writing. Additionally, a documentary screening of ‘Einstein and the Bomb’ encouraged critical reflection on ethical dimensions in science through an interactive discussion.
Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal, GGDSD College, Chandigarh lauded the team of the Readers Club and the NDLI Club for successfully organizing the event and for promoting a vibrant culture of literary and cultural engagement on campus.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh Sohal and Dr. Pratibha Kumari expressed gratitude to all participants and highlighted the fest’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. They also acknowledged the support of college management, faculty members and students in making the event a success.
Dr. Monika Sethi, Lt Ritika Sinha, Mr. Balpreet Singh, Ms. Jyoti Maini and Dr. Shweta Sharma, along with the entire team, played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the series of activities.
