MAHENDERGARH, 06.02.26-The Department of Management Studies, School of Business and Management Studies, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Manhendergarh organized a “Panel Discussion on Union Budget 2026” at the University. The programme witnessed the participation of approximately 250 students, research scholars, and faculty members, making it a highly impactful academic event.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, highlighted several key dimensions of the Union Budget 2026. He spoke about the increasing role of digital systems, mails, and online applications, particularly in relation to University governance and academic administration. He emphasized how digital platforms are being applied for strengthening dedicated University data centres, which will play a crucial role in academic digitization and data-driven governance. He further discussed the strategic focus on different metals, semiconductor manufacturing in the country, and the long-term national vision linked with technological self-reliance. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar also highlighted that it is projected that tax rebates may continue up to 2047, reflecting long-term fiscal planning. He elaborated on the importance of pharmaceutical innovation and production, development of the biotechnology industry, and concluded by emphasizing that “we must not only look at the budget allocations, but we must look at the direction of the budget for national development.”
The external expert, Prof. N. K. Bishnoi, Dean and Professor, Department of Economics, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, discussed the principles of taxation and explained that taxation policies are designed in such a way that higher charges are imposed on wealthy sections of society and the benefits are distributed to poorer sections, ensuring social justice, equity, and inclusive development.
Before this welcome address givan by Prof. Ajai Pal Sharma, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, panel members, and participants. This was followed by the introduction of the panel members by Dr. Ajay Kumar, who highlighted the academic achievements and expertise of the distinguished speakers. Dr. Anurag B. Singh, Convener of the programme, introduced the theme and objectives of the programme and emphasized the importance of understanding the Union Budget from an academic, policy, and developmental perspective.
Prof. Ranjan Ajeja, Dean, School of Business and Management Studies, elaborated on the overall outcomes of the panel discussion, actively engaged with the audience, answered their queries, and highlighted the benefits of GST 2.0, explaining its role in strengthening tax administration and economic efficiency. Prof. Sushila Soriya, Head, Department of Commerce, discussed the rates of taxes on different sectors and issues, highlighting their impact on trade, business, and economic stability.
Prof. Ashish Mathur, Head & Professor, Department of Management Studies, spoke on youth-driven growth, the importance of innovation culture, and emphasized the vision of “Making India”, focusing on entrepreneurship, startups, and national self-reliance.
The panel discussion was interactive, intellectually enriching, and academically stimulating, with active participation from students and scholars. The event concluded with a collective reflection on how the Union Budget 2026 serves not only as a financial document but as a strategic policy roadmap for India’s long-term development.
