NEW DELHI, 06.02.26-, 6 February 2026: February in Jamaica is more than a month on the calendar—it is a celebration of identity, resilience, and rhythm as the island comes alive to mark Reggae Month, a nationwide tribute to the music that shaped its soul and carried its voice to the world. This year, the island celebrates Reggae Month under the powerful theme "Rhythms of Resilience." Following closely after the island's recovery from Hurricane Melissa, this year's festivities are being hailed as "healing music" for the nation.
Today, February 6 marks the pinnacle of the festivities: the 81st Birthday of the legendary Bob Marley.
Rooted in the lived experiences of the Jamaican people, reggae has long served as both expression and resistance—telling stories of hope, struggle, love, and unity. Every February, Jamaica pauses to honour the genre not just as music, but as a cultural force that continues to influence global conversations around identity, justice, and belonging.
This year, acclaimed reggae artiste Etana has been officially named Reggae Month Ambassador for 2026. Etana was selected for her outstanding contributions to reggae music, her consistent commitment to positive messaging, and her strong representation of Jamaican culture on the international stage.
Reggae Month celebrations across the island bring together artists, cultural practitioners, communities, and institutions through a dynamic programme of live performances, tributes, educational forums, and immersive cultural experiences. Reggae Month also serves as a reminder of Jamaica’s enduring influence on global culture.
As the island celebrates Reggae Month, Jamaica is inviting the world, with a special focus on the growing Indian luxury and cultural travel market, to experience the soul of the Caribbean.
