Chandigarh, January 28, 2026:Reaffirming the Chandigarh Administration’s commitment to responsive and citizen-centric governance, the weekly Janta Darbar conducted by the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria — launched in July 2025 — along with public hearings held by senior officers of the Administration, continues to serve as an effective platform for grievance redressal.
The Punjab Governor and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, along with senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration, today held public hearings at the U.T. Secretariat. A large number of citizens from different parts of the city participated and presented their grievances and suggestions related to civic amenities, public services and personal matters.
During the day, a total of 125 public hearings were conducted by various officers, including 7 hearings in the Janta Darbar by the Administrator, 5 by the Chief Secretary, 20 by the Home Secretary, 7 by the Finance Secretary, 19 by the Engineering Secretary, 5 by the Municipal Commissioner, 40 by the Deputy Commissioner, and 22 by the Senior Superintendent of Police.
The Administrator and senior officers patiently heard each grievance and interacted with the applicants in detail. Citizens were assured of prompt, effective and hassle-free delivery of public services, with directions issued to the concerned departments for timely redressal.
The initiative has significantly strengthened public trust by enabling direct interaction between citizens and the Administration, reinforcing transparency, accountability and the Administration’s firm resolve to ensure timely and people-oriented governance.
