CHANDIGARH, 19.01.26-The Property Federation Chandigarh strongly condemns, in the harshest possible terms, the recent proposal reported in the media whereby the Chandigarh Estate Office intends to directly facilitate the sale and purchase of private properties by acting as an “authorised intermediary” between buyers and sellers, effectively assuming the role of a property dealer or broker.

An emergency meeting of the Property Federation Chandigarh was convened immediately to deliberate upon this alarming development. The meeting was attended by: Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, Sanjay Jain, Tarlok Singh, HS Monga, Amit Jain, Naresh Bansal, Inderjit Singh, and Navdeep Sharma After detailed discussion, the Federation unanimously resolved to oppose and condemn this move for the following serious and fundamental reasons.
The Property Federation Chandigarh unequivocally demands: Immediate withdrawal of the proposal to act as an intermediary/broker in private property transactions. Clear demarcation between the regulatory role of the Estate Office and private professional services. Meaningful consultation with stakeholders, including registered property dealers and associations, before framing any policy affecting the real estate ecosystem. Reforms aimed at transparency and efficiency, not monopolisation of power. The Federation makes it clear that if this proposal is not withdrawn, it will be constrained to initiate democratic protests, legal remedies, and representations to higher authorities, including the Administrator of UT Chandigarh and the Government of India.
*A deputation of the Property Federation will soon meet the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Estate Officer in this regard*.
