MAHENDERGARH, 13.12.25-The four-day AIU North Zone Inter-University Volleyball (Men) Championship, organized by the Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), concluded successfully. The championship was held from 09 December, 2025 at the CUH campus.

Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra emerged as the champions, while Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar secured the second position and Panjab University, Chandigarh finished third.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Mahendragarh–Bhiwani constituency, Shri Dharambir Singh, as the Chief Guest, and Arjuna Awardee Major General Deep Singh Ahlawat as the Guest of Honour. The program was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar.

On this occasion Shri Dharambir Singh emphasized that team sports like volleyball foster fitness, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and strategic thinking among youth. Major General Deep Singh Ahlawat congratulated the players and highlighted the importance of perseverance, sportsmanship, and continuous self-improvement, stressing collective efforts to enhance India’s global sporting identity. The Guest of Honour felicitated the winning teams with trophies, medals, and certificates.

Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour and lauded the efforts of the Department of Physical Education & Sports and the Sports Council for the successful organization of the championship. He reiterated the university’s commitment to hosting such major sporting events in the future.

The event witnessed participation from around 60 universities and institutions across the North Zone. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. J.P. Bhuker, Head of the Department, in the presence of faculty members, officials, students, and research scholars. Dr. Sandeep Dhull, Dr. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Kumar P., Dr. Gajender Singh, Dr. Jitender, and Dr. Kheraj actively participated in the event as members of the organizing committee. The programme was also attended by Prof. Surender Singh, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), along with Prof. Sanjeev Kumar, Prof. Pramod Kumar, Dr. C. M. Meena, and a large number of students and research scholars.
