SHIMLA -6th December, 2025- Members of the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross and Indian Red Cross Society called on the Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan and apprised him about the three-day training workshop which concluded today at the State Red Cross Bhavan, Shimla.

Emphasizing the importance of such initiatives, the Governor said that capacity building workshops were vital for enhancing preparedness and coordinated response during emergencies. He said that the Red Cross can play a crucial role in crisis situations through effective training and teamwork.

Expert sessions were conducted by Dev Bhujjia and Rachna from the International Federation of Red Cross and John George from the International Committee of Red Cross and technical sessions for capacity enhancement by Assistant Secretary of the State Red Cross Society, Sanjeev Kumar.

Sanjeev detailed about the three-day training programme which covered several key areas, including the Red Cross movement, fundamental principles of the Red Cross, volunteer management, coordination between state and district branches, outreach to beneficiaries etc. Some sessions were also conducted through virtual platforms in which representatives from Red Cross branches across the States participated.

The workshop conducted jointly by State Red Cross Society and Indian Red Cross Society, New Delhi committed to further strengthen Red Cross initiatives across Himachal Pradesh, improve volunteer engagement, and enhance efficiency in emergency response and humanitarian outreach.
