CHANDIGARH,28.11.25-Former Chandigarh Municipal Councilor and BJP Chandigarh Cell and Department In-charge, Shakti Prakash Devshali, has written a letter to Administrator Shri Gulabchand Kataria, requesting a detailed investigation and strict action against those creating unrest among residents of various colonies in Chandigarh by spreading confusion regarding the alleged cancellation of houses.
In his letter to the Administrator, Devshali stated that for the past week, leaders of certain political parties, including the Congress, along with some other individuals, have been spreading misinformation by misinterpreting and mistranslating a letter from the Chandigarh Estate Office. They have been spreading rumors about house cancellations, increases in lease amounts, and eviction of house buyers, thereby creating an atmosphere of fear and dissatisfaction among local residents. In reality, no such mentions exist in the referenced letter.
Devshali emphasized that in view of the seriousness of the matter a detailed probe should be conducted to determine whether these false statements and rumors are part of an organized “toolkit.” He said these rumors were deliberately circulated at a time when students were protesting at Punjab University and farmers and other groups from Punjab and nearby areas were gathered at Chandigarh’s borders. Spreading such misleading information regarding cancellation of houses, denial of ownership rights, increase in lease amounts, and eviction threats at such a sensitive time attempts to disturb law and order and internal security, which has worried the city’s residents.
Appealing to all colony residents to maintain peace, Devshali assured that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not allow any citizen to become homeless. He further assured that the party is taking necessary steps at organizational, administrative, and governmental levels. He urged citizens not to pay attention to baseless rumors and to expose those who spread false information among the public.
