Chandigarh, 28 November: A team of students and faculty from Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women enthusiastically participated in the curtain raiser event for the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025, organised by the CSIR–Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh. The theme of the event- ‘Vigyaan Se Samridhi- Science for Prosperity’ celebrated India’s scientific growth and innovation-driven progress.

The programme was graced by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director, CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), Palampur as the Chief Guest, Dr. Hemraj Nandanwar, Chief Scientist, CSIR–IMTECH and Vice-President, Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad, and Dr. Sanjeev Khosla, Director, CSIR–IMTECH. In his keynote address, Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav emphasised the transformative role of scientific research and innovation in shaping a prosperous and self-reliant nation. Dr. Sanjeev Khosla reaffirmed IMTECH’s commitment to nurturing scientific excellence and promoting collaborative learning. Dr. Hemraj Nandanwar highlighted the pivotal role of Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad in fostering scientific awareness, curiosity, and outreach in the region.

The delegation from MCM gained enriching exposure through interactive demonstrations, scientific exhibits, and discussions with IMTECH researchers. They explored cutting-edge innovations in microbial sciences, biotechnology, and their real-world applications. The experience offered them a unique glimpse into the world of advanced research and ongoing scientific breakthroughs in the country.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma commended CSIR–IMTECH for organising an exceptional outreach initiative that encourages young learners to engage with science beyond classroom boundaries. She expressed that such opportunities significantly contribute to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and future scientific aspirations among students.
